Our wedding is in the Wp. WE are trying to cut costs and save money. WE are having 1 altar arrangement. I really want roses scattered along aisle, but the Disney cost is too muhc to swallow - 200 bucks!
Do you think me buying silk flower petals would look bad? I am unsure what I can do on my own instead of using Disney.

Thanks

Have you thought about freeze dried rose petals? I have heard they look more realistic. Just a thought!

jennifer, where did you use them? in the WP? If so did Disney set them up for you? My planner said she wasn't sure if they would and I had to check with floral.

If you used them in the WP how many did you order?

If Disney wont do them for you - you can always get someone in the wedding party to do it befoer the guests arrive - if you just want them scattered down the aisle it should be a quick thing to do!

I think it's really up to you and your preference. You can get something large or something small. Mine is a medium size arrangement, bt I am having no other decorations so I thought it would look nice when the videos came in with some color on the altar. Without anything it does look plain to me - but thats just my honest opinion. For you it might be fine. Look at the images of the Wp and see what you think.

Laurafoster - I asked my planner that and she said it was not a good idea to let someone in my bridal party do it b/c we need them for photos. Instead a guests to do it, but I feel bad asking a guest to decorate for my wedding.

WonderWomanDC, did you have the petals shipped to you at home, or shipped to Disney (and if to Disney, to your hotel room?)? Was there a clean up fee attached to using your own petals? Thanks!

I didnt really think of that - what time is your wedding? Prehaps if there are no weddings a few hours before yours someone could pop over and do it then before you start the photographs?

I think i read somewhere that disney can do it for you - they will probably charge something for this though.

Go to costco, buy their 2 dozen (always gorgeous) roses for 15.99, pluck them and stick the petals in ziplock bags and put them in the fridge the day before. Just before the ceremony, recruit one of your bridesmaids (because that's what they're for, not just to stand there and look pretty), to go and scatter them down the aisle.

Voila. Cheap. And nobody knows any differently. I did all the flowers for my wedding. Saved thousands. We had flowers out the wazoo, and the day before I pulled out my martha stewart book on how to do wedding bouquets and I had a gorgeous white rose bouquet with long french wired ribbons.

Flowers aren't hard; they're inherently beautiful, you just have to get them a little formalized to where you can hold them! :)

I had them shipped to me at home a couple of months before. I made bags up of rose petals for the petal toss exit. The rest were in a bag that I handed over to be scattered on the aisle. My planner took care of this for me, but if she hadn't, I would have probably asked a friend to arrive a little early and take care of scattering them over the aisle. I was not charged a cleanup fee, but as always, you should check to make sure the policy has not changed.
I believe I ordered 60 cups from the budget petals section (plus 6 cups free) and then used them for 40 petal bags and the rest for the aisle.

Thanks everyone. I think that what I am going to do and see if my planner would do it or a friend. I am using Disney floral for other things just not this.

Altar arrangements? Do most people get this? Does it look really plain without one?

The Wedding Pavilion is stunning on its own. If you don't want an altar arrangement, don't feel pressured into ordering one.

I went very simple for my evening ceremony inside the Wedding Pavilion: click here. I ordered a floral arrangement and a series of candles to be placed on the altar. That was it. There were no other enhancements made to the Wedding Pavilion, and I was perfectly happy with that.

Please make the choice that will make you the happiest and try not to worry what anyone else thinks. It is your ceremony and should be tailored to your likes (and your spouse's likes too).

I wish you all the happiness in the world, Majekmoon14. Have fun planning.

Hey-

Disney doesn't make it very easy for you or anyone else to decorate. Remember that they will only give you access to the Wedding Pavilion about an hour or so before the event. If you're going to do the rose petals yourself, I would suggest having a trusted family member that isn't involved the with wedding party or ceremony (like reading, etc) do it. That way, they know what they're job is and aren't tied up with photos or nervous about the reading they are doing.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest using silks as a first choice. I have seen bulk packages of rose petals available online. I believe you coordinate shipping to coincide with the event and the time you will need for setup. You can have them shipped directly to the Grand and give them the heads up you are expecting them. Most of them come packed on dry ice or freeze dried. If you run a Google search for loose rose petals, wedding rose petals, or freeze dried rose petals, I am sure you'll find something that works logistically and fits your budget.

Good luck!
xoxo

Does anyone know what type of petals your allowed to use for outdoor locations? Im sure i read that they have to be biodegradable?

I would assume that any natural petal would be OK. A synthetic (like silk floral) is probably not permitted for outside throwing. It is probably the biodegradable rice you are thinking of. They sell is by the bagful on most wedding retail websites in this country. The Wedding Channel Store or The Knot Store would have some examples. I am not sure abotu international shipping from either of those retailers. Also, you may want to purchase it in this country (maybe your coordinator could hold onto it for you?) so that you don't have to worry about it going through customs.

I had the same fears and I just did the altar arrangement...it was beautiful with nothing added!!!

make sure if you use your own petals or another florist, to use biodegradable or frozen petals otherwise disney will charge a clean up fee.

as for setting up items you bring, disney floral will set up some items if you use them for floral, thats what were doing with our aisle rose petals (buying at publix when we arrive), programs, placecards, our reception centerpieces & candle/lamps at our dessert party. disney floral is charging me like $50 to set those up. im also using an outside company for our white wooden chair rental, they were half the cost of disney.

disney floral is really expensive for decor. i spazzed when i saw my original $2500 quote, we know have it down to $1200.
