Have you ever just gotten a shocker!
I just got one, like...2 seconds ago.

Well, I was bored...and DISing. My mom walks in my room and reminds me about ordering a class ring and she hands me a peice of paper. I'm assuming that it's about the ring, but when I look down at the paper, it's titled "American Music Abroad Honor Bands, Choirs and Orchestras.

This got me interested.
And it says,

Dear Melissa:

Congratulations! (band teacher name here) has personally recommended you for our American Music Abroad Honor Bands, Choirs and Orchestras Tour of Europe for 2008.

Blah blah blah...skipping to the interesting part of the letter...

This year's American Music Abroad Gold Tour begins July 2 and returns to the United States on July 21. We will be performing in and visiting France, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. Our itinerary is carefully planned for exciting, educational and cultural experiences. We stay in fine quality hotels in villages and smaller cities. Some of the places that we will visit are the Normandy region of France, Paris, Heidelberg, Strasbourg, the Bavarian region of Germany and the Tirolean region of Austria. Our concerts are often arranged by local cultural or musical organizations.

Some of the highlights of the 2008 Gold Tour will include a visit to Omaha Beach and the W orId War II memorial and museum; an evening cruise on the Seine in Paris; a trip up the Eiffe1 Tower in Paris; a cruise along the Rhine River; a visit to a castle in France; a visit to the medieval town of Dinkelsbtihl; a Tirolean Folk Fest; and an awesome trip via cable car to a glacier in the Austrian Alps.

(No, I didn't type this all, I scanned it xD)

I don't know if I'll be able to go, financially...this has got to be expensive, but I'm just really happy that I was recommended!

Have you ever had news that shocked you or you didn't expect?

There is spelling mistakes from that paper though.... anyways Congrats!

WOW is right.
Congratulations Melissa! That's awesome!

Hmm...and to answer your question....
I got to be one of the judges for the State officers of one of our clubs.
I had to stay the night with these two girls in a place awhile away from where I live.
I was SO excited. I met really really awesome people there. It was great. :D

Congrats about being recommended to that school! My parents wouldn't move either if I got recommended to a school far away xD

There is spelling mistakes from that paper though.... anyways Congrats!

Nah, I saw that, it's from the scanner. It does that a lot lol :D
Lol! Thanks! :D

Wow congrats and that is a huge honor to be even nominated by a teacher for something lke that. This sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity and I know you said it probably would be expensive, but have you thought about fundraisers that could raise $$$$$ for you to go?

Congrats Mel!

And yes I have had some happen to me that shocked me. Making the 14 national team for my club in Ohio.

But that would be so cool if you got to go!

that is awesome...

the only thing that was ever a shocker or me was I was nominated to be in a pagent and also invited to a dance confrence in Orlando which i denied both of them but i am doing the pagent next year since it said that if you cant do it this year do i next year if you want...

congrats! that's fantastic!

A shocker I got was I guess asked to be in this Special Irish Step Dance show thing.

awesome mel!! That's amazing! Congrats!

Shockers? I guess i was shocked when sparky came 4th in his first hunter trial, but that's not really much just minor scale pony club shows(even if i don't belong to either of the pony clubs running it. xD. Gate crashing hunter trials lol) There were 22 entries in that class.
4/22
so minor scale stuff

You are soo lucky! I have always wanted to do something like that! I was in honors band my 8th grade year. THat seems sooo cool to do. It would be an amazing experiance(sp)

Congrats! My biggest shocker was getting accepted to a high school that I really, really wanted to attend.

OMG CONGRATS!!

One big shocker happened in 6th grade when I recieved a letter from a college saying that I got a really high score (It was a 96%) on a state test and they wanted me to take the SAT's as a practice thing. Unfortuantely I denied it since the thing said that it wouldn't show on my high school aplication that I took the SAT's. No regrets at all..
