wow....this is definitely not summer crowds!!

Well, I picked the wrong week then! I was there last week and it was packed! Way bigger crowds than I was expecting. Only Father's Day was somewhat quiet.

Yep, I was there the same week as you. We also noticed that Sunday was the quietest day. Thursday probably came in second.

I have gone the last week of June many many years and its almost never bad until the days before the 4th of July. It always surpised me every year I went that time.

Hi Lynn! Glad to hear you had a good experience! I wish I could say the same. We were there June 8, 9, and 10 and it was hot and crowded. Especially on the 8th and 9th.

We still had fun and it did thin out and cool down towards the evening but while I was there I was thinking, never again will I go in a summer month.

Of course now I'm missing it already and wish I could go back....crowds, heat and all! :rotfl:

hey beth...that is so funny because last year I was there the same time you were this year and yes it was warm but not terribly and it was cool in the evening and it wasnt crowded at all..what it all basically boils down to now is that there is no rhyme or reason anymore, there are no more good times to go vs bad times to go, cant go by weather from previous years...you just have to pick a time that best suits you and your family and pray that it will all work out...and when you pack you have to pack for cool and warm weather:faint:

We were there Monday of last week (the 16th), and it was totally crowded! The line for Peter Pan was 40 minutes at the get-go & was even worse at 10:30pm. We mostly rode fastpass rides since it was so crowded. Then, on Wednesday (the 18th), it wasn't nearly as crowded. We got to ride a lot more in both parks. I wonder if Monday was worse because of 1) father's day, or 2) people there for TSMM's opening on Tuesday? :confused3

I couldn't agree more. ::yes:: The weather and crowds are just too unpredicatable now. I often see posts asking if this is a good time to go, or what the weather will be like at a certain time and I almost never respond simply because who knows?!?! :rotfl:

All you can do is prepare for the "worst" as far as weather and crowds, and hope for the best. Well, that's my new philosophy anyway. ;)
That's what we are doing for October. Just picking dates that work for us school and work wise, and then just hope for decent crowd levels and bring items for both hot and cold weather.

Yay, Lynn! Glad you had a great trip! :thumbsup2

I am surprised to read that ANY time in the summer is light crowds, but especially weekend days! Why would that be???

We've always gone in non-peak times (September, October, early February, late April), and even then the weekends are very crowded. are the local passes blocked during summer months? Just curious what would explain that. :)

I guess it's also kind of relative. We were there around the same time June 7 thru 10th. I agree the crowds were heavy on 8th and 9th (surprisingly not bad on 7th - especially during MM). But it wasn't very hot to me - the sun was strong but it was maybe low 80s? And I'm originally from Canada so I'm not used to heat. I guess I find dry heat more tolerable.

I know there was a convention going on so that probably added to the crowds. The Unofficial Guide (and probably other sources too) list all the major conventions booked for the year.

So yesterday was our last date on the AP. It was AMAZING!! We went on :
Mark Twains River Boat
BTMRR 3 Times! all with Fp's. Why dont people get the fp when its available?
Seriously, the line for fp's were about 8 minutes
Pooh's Ride twice, but only because the bar wouldnt raise up the first time, and they thought we wanted to ride it again it was very funny, the cm said it was because we got into the honey and the bar was "stuck":rotfl:
The train
Tarzans tree house, did you know that if you stick your hand near the tiger, it will growl at you? I scared the pants off me, it was very funny, and if you rub the little bronze faces in one of the Tarzan books, the faces will appear on the screen. Just go to the tree house, you will know what I am talking about.
Then Snow Whites scary adventure, the apple is back but nothing happens when you touch it. We also watched the fire works and Fantasmic.:wizard:
And then to finish off the night we rode the Indiana Jones Ride.(Side bar, I saw Indy running through the crowd earlier in the day , he ran by me, I squeezed his arm, and said Hey Indy good Job and he said Thank you! Indy talked to me:lovestruc oooh he is a cutie!!)
Anyway, as we were walking out of the IJ ride, I asked a CM named Cameron, if he heard of the old Eyeore sign. Well , he was off the clock and actually walking to the exit, he turned around opened the rope and asked us to follow him, the ride is closed the park is closed, people are leaving, he was leaving, he took the time to show us 2 hidden mickeys,(one huge one on the left wall near the front end of the movie room, the mickey is huge, it is just below and diagonal to the left of the screen on the left wall not the screen wall, and another one before the movie room it is on the big tablet in the circular windy area at the bottom left corner of the tablet, you know where the part where if you pull the rope the voice yells at you not to pull the rope:rotfl2: ,its that tablet, it looks like a big map.And of course the Eyeore sign. You would never see it if a CM and a flash light didnt go with you lol
So, how cool was that?? So we went to City Hall to tell them about what Cameron did. It was so nice and a great end to a great year of Disneyland. The HM was closed all day because some unruly ghosts have been messing with stuff or what ever the cm said. thats okay. The weather was perfect even a little chilly at night.
The only downer was that I guess a tree fell on some people in NOS. And someone got very hurt, I dont know the details but I guess about 25 people had been under the branch when it fell and there were injuries.I dont know the details but I hope everyone will be alright.
So, we will buy new AP's in September. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

glad you had a great time....see I was right wasnt I??? and dang Im just glad we werent under that tree when it fell:headache:

I was there the 25th and 26th and I agree- I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the crowds were NOT what I expected, especially after my one day on June 10 being horrendous crowds. I was so glad the weather was great, too, since we met my BIL and SIL and DNiece and DNephew from Seattle down there this week.

My wife and I went yesterday (Sun 6/29) and we were both amazed at the smaller crowds. We were in line at the gates at 8am (no rope drop) and we rode 12 rides by 12:30pm (some were multiple times on the same ride). Big Thunder was a walk-on most of the time we were there (the sign at 12:30 said the stand-by wait was 3 minutes and that was accurate!). Matterhorn on the TL side was pretty short, you could exit the ride and get right back in line without cutting in front of anyone.

Maybe I should cancel December and go now!!!!:lmao:

I'm really trying not to read this thread all the time because I'm sure everyone is just waiting until the end of July when I go. ;) Just watch, there will be record crowds and heat!!:scared:
