They are already up to "F" and it's just Sept 1st. TS Fiona is on the way and there is another "spot" behind her. Hopefully they just keep on the track they are and don't really make landfall anywhere.

I honestly don't see the big deal. That's just what hurricanes do. But I'm also talking from many, many years of hurricane experience living on the LA/MS gulf coast where we've been hit so many times, including Katrina that totally destroyed everything on the MS gulf coast as far as 15 miles inland. By August 29th, we were already up to 'k'. I think we're doing pretty good with just being on 'f'.

It's actually a pretty slow year for hurricanes. 2009 was a below-average year and we are in the F's just a few days ahead of last year. (Fred was named on Sept 8th)

2008, Tropical Storm Fay formed on Aug.15th. By Sept. 1st, we were already up to Ike.

I remember back in the early 90s when Hugo hit the Caribbean (hit directly where my parents had their retirement home-those were a few sleepless days until we were able to communicate) and it was early Sept. There are always lots of named storms and it definitely goes in cycles.

I love when people nowhere near hurricane areas get all worked up about them. So quaint and amusing. :)

Storms 3,000 miles out in the ocean don't mean a thing. Wake me if one actually threatens to hit Florida with more than a glancing blow.

Not stacked up at all, really. I mean, sure there are three storms/hurricanes right now - but hurricane season runs from June 1 to about November 1. We're halfway through the season and ONLY on our sixth named storm so far?

Sloooooooooooowwwwwwwww season!

I'm a big weather nut, so I love tracking hurricanes and other severe weather. You're right about this year. This year has been a big bore. Earl looked like it wanted to be something to rave about, but even he couldn't muster anything worth studying in-depth.

Not "all worked up" about anything, just making a comment on the line of storms forming
