So I'm looking on the AAA website and one-day two park tickets for a family of four are - GULP - $512. Really ??

Now I am a Disney fan and we have annual passes. We wanted to maybe visit Universal/IOA for the day. But DH quickly shot down that thought after he saw how much it was.

Is there now way to get less expensive tickets ??

Suffering sticker shock ....

How much is Disney 1 day hopper? No discounts really on 1 day pass.

I totally get your point, I do. But we have always bought tickets to Disney for 7+ days and now we have DVC annual passes. But dang - $512 for ONE day. That hurts.

Maybe we should look into going for a couple of days when we have more time?? Maybe stay at one of the hotels ?? I understand there is more value if you can spend more than one day.

if you stayed on night on site, and depending when you go, you could get the AAA discount on the room.
rooms can be as low as $150.
m-th have he lower rates.

the hotel perk allows for early entry to the park and unlimited usage of all the express lines in the parks for the entire family.

oh, you get that hotel perk for the day you check in the hotel and the day you check out.

no free usage of the express lines with the Cabana Cay hotel.
that is the value/moderate one that will be opening next spring.

it will be cheaper but it won't have all the perks of the deluxe hotels.

OK. Nevermind. I just wanted some help.

There are no savings on one day passes, not sure when you are going but watch universal's site, they sometimes run deals. The last one was a 3 day pass for like 150(Dont hold me to that number).

I would recommend more than one day to see everything in both parks

It's definitely cheaper the longer you go. There was a promotion recently that if you bought two days you got the third free. Not sure if it's still happening though. I'd suggest staying on-site (free express passes!) and making a mini vacation out of it- there is so much to see it deserves more than one day!

Costco has deals on 3 day hopper tickets I think it was $150 or $180. You have a AP for WDW why not buy the U/IOA....It is $279. Then you can go everytime you guys hit WDW. I loved the parks when we went. Very different than WDW, but great. IOA was amazing!!

Thank you soooo much !! THIS was the info I was looking for. You have been very helpful.

I KNOW how much Disney costs - geez.

I really do appreciate those of you that took the time to help.

THANKS !!!:goodvibes:thumbsup2

OK. New question. I just heard that US/IOA had a PAYMENT plan for annual passes.

Can anyone confirm and provide info ??

Thanks !!

Susan

ALSO not everybody in the family needs the $279 annual pass. Just one person needs that one to get free parking and food and merchandise discounts. Everybody else can get the cheapest annual pass. My husband has the medium one and I have the cheap one.

Once you have the AP's they are very cheap to renew. My cheap season pass was only $140 to renew and DH's $279 Ap was only $180 to renew. We always renew ours because we go to Disney AND Universal/IOA every trip.

You really should give yourself one day for each park.

ETA: Actually Universal is cheaper than Disney. To add a second day to your Disney ticket it costs basically the same amount as the first day, so double the price. To add a second day to your Universal ticket is about half price for the second day. Much cheaper the more days you add.

I do this. I have the preferred I paid 150 down and pay appx 12 a month. The free parking alone is a plus, its 16 a day to park at universal. Then you can even get discounts on food and hotels

Some things to keep in mind though with the flex pay option if you decide to go that route (I did myself a few years back)...

1. You Flex Contract starts the day you purchase the pass, however your AP year does not start until your first use. That means that should you decide to buy the pass today, but don't actually go to the park until say... august 15th.... Your Flex Contract year will run from July 3rd 2013 - July 2nd 2012... but your AP will be valid from August 15th 2013-August 15 2014....[assuming you don't renew]

2. If you decide you want to cancel and not renew your flex account, you would need to make the request about 30days before your flex account year is up. This would be around June 3rd 2014 in the above example. Your AP would still be valid for the remainder of the AP year... or August 15th 2014.

3. If you don't cancel your AP, Your monthly payment will increase slightly after 12 months since the following year you will being paying the full price for the AP, however your price is locked. Basically, take your Downpayment amount, divide by 12, and add that to your existing monthly payment. This will be your monthly payment from now until whenever you decide to cancel your AP.

4. If you would prefer to take advantage of the lump sum renewal discount, you can do that too. You would need to cancel your Flex Account within the last month, and then you will need to turn around and pay the lump sum renewal discount. That will get you off the flex pay renewals and onto the traditional lump sum renewal. (You cannot go back to the flex pay system at that point).

Hope this helps!

Just wanted to add, if you do decide to drop flex pay and renew at the discounted price, you must do this within 30 days of when your flex pay contract expires rather than when your AP expires. I learned this the hard way :).
