Wow! S.W. Air Fare went up AGAIN!

Our flights went up another $5 each way to $144!!!! Also, they have the points up there now if you are using RR points.

Price of crude oil is hovering at $100 bucks a barrel. I think this morning it dipped to 97 bucks but as long as it's that high any thing and every thing associated with petroleum is going to skyrocket.

Now airlines use to be able to absorb that cost by "feeing" us to death but as predicted, they have run out of things to charge us for. What's left a fee to use the bathroom? so they have to raise fares.

Honestly I would wait to buy airfare. As PPs have said it is high right now because of the cost of oil. I read an article that oil prices are high because of uncertainty in Lybia. Whether that's true or an excuse to temporarily raise prices, I don't know, but I suspect this rapid incerease in prices will be temporary. Although, I could be completely wrong!

I am thinking the same thing and also hoping that they come down a little in a few weeks. Time will tell, either way I think I the great fares we saw a couple of years ago are gone! I sure will miss round trip to MCO for 100. Its slightly over $200 right now and I'm hoping it goes under $200 because I need 7 tickets!

I just checked the airfare for our dates in June and it went up over $100 from last week! $417 roundtrip is outrageous!

I wish I could buy our airfare right now for October but I'm waiting on Southwest's new schedule...two more weeks.
