I was just reading on the resort board that the room tax is now 12.5%?

That is another great reason that I often forget that makes DVC such a value. It's nice not having to pay such a high amount of tax to stay at WDW whatever it presently is. I remember when I used to figure the total cost of our vacation always adding in that nasty 11%. I'm glad I don't do that any more.

Makes you wonder if the politicians in Florida will try to find a way to tax timeshares beyond the tax paid at the time of purchase?

Wow!
Is that Orange County or Osceola County. The ASR's are in Osceola County, and the tax there was always higher.

As for taxing timeshares, Hawaii found out a way to do it. They call it an occupancy tax, and it's in addition to the regular real estate taxes.

The resort tax in Orange County is 11.5%, in Osceola County 12%. That is because the state raised its sales tax .5% on 1/1/03
