Sorry if I'm late to this party but have you seen this??? I saw on Fresh Baked that Magic Key holders are getting ripped off.
I'm a dream key holder myself. Checked the calendar and most if not all the weekends are gone from Oct - Dec 2021!! Holy smokes. And a side by comparison was done between a Magic Key holder and a single day calendar are vastly different. Single day reservations are WIDE OPEN.

Wonder what will happen moving forward? I'm starting to get buyers remorse with this $1400 ticket. Almost the entire month of October is gone as well. It used to be fairly easy booking a reservation 1-2 days out.

Hopefully they treat this similar to WDW then and move reservation availability based on demand. Seems insane they aren't already doing that.

YOu know, I completely understand Disney wants to keep the reservations available for those who are vacation planners / out of state. It seems that the reservations are available from a 3:1 ratio 3 single day reservations available for every 1 pass holder. However what good is having a Magic Key if you can't even go at all? Its the beginning of Oct. the only days left are 8 days in the last 2 weeks of the month. Tue - Thur . For November, there's 1 Sat available, and December weekends are gone. LOL! Thats nuts.

Not only that, but I tested the same day with a Dream Key and a Believe Key. I looked at dates that were not blackout and there were some that were available to the Dream key but filled for the Believe Key. I have both in my account so I just selected one or the other when trying to reserve to see availability.

Yep, late to the party. We (key holders) started to realize this within the first couple days as we saw some dates book up. It appears Disney is constantly shifting reservations (or just adjusting capacity) because all of October was gone for key holders yesterday but by late afternoon/evening most days had opened up again.

You can also use this link, scroll down and click on pass tier you're checking (Disney added open res dates along with block out dates):

I don’t think this is the case. If anything, you may have been seeing dates switching between availability. Looking at the API, it doesn’t appear there are separate buckets for different pass levels.

A little late to the party :) Adam the Woo also did a recent vlog about regretting his DLR MK/AP because it wasn't as simple as WDW's pass with same-day reservations and such. Despite it being a basic revamp of the old AP program, they (DLR) is still looking for that "sweet spot" where there are plenty of same-day tickets available, with enough MK/AP spots to keep those people happy as well.

When at Disneyland 2 weeks ago, I was surprised to hear a CM telling people that they had stopped selling tickets for the day, and it was only early evening time. MK spots were already all gone (had filled up a few days ahead), and the crowds definitely felt heavy, but didn't realize that the crowds were bad enough to stop selling same day tickets.

I have no doubt that someone (hopefully many someones) are working at trying to figure out the sweet spot for bucket capacities.

Side note: Just another reminder that WDW and DLR are two very different parks, and their policies and expectations aren't interchangeable!

I went back and forth between them and it showed a difference. And tried both together and couldn't reserve, but could with just mine. Just relaying my experience.

Main reason the afternoon and night at DL seem so heavy is that Key Holders are choosing DCA as the starting park but not arriving until 1pm or later so they can get into Disneyland anyways.

It is the case. There is different availability based on pass level. There is a Twitter account that tweets out every time a reservation opens up with the date and pass type. Days will open up for some types of passes, but not others. It's really interesting. I think what happens is that if a reservation is booked by a specific type of magic key, if that person cancels the reservation, it is only made available to that same pass type.

Guilty. Although that goes the other way too. We wanted to start at DCA last Saturday but only DL start was available. We didn't want to go to DL, but we wanted to try for a 12:00 BG for Webslingers (didn't even get it). We arrived at 11:55 into DL and basically watched Great Moments with Mr.Lincoln to kill time. DL was SO packed we couldn't wait to get out of there.

Thanks for the clarification, I stand corrected!
