omg im listening to the first part of the disney land podcast.

they are slamming the food
unexceptional
is the word they keep using. Yes some of the food sucks but wow.
well maybe some one in disney land will listen an fix some of the food I admit it some times its hard to find good food.

With the DIS - you have to remember that they tell it like they see it. It's not just DL - they say the same thing with many WDW restaurants, too. It's just that there are way more eateries at WDW than DL.

I have to admit, that they are right about DL food. It is passable or good and solidly, edible food, but not unexceptional.

The term Exceptional is reserved for places where the cost is equal to the quality of what they serve and how they serve and that they really do serve a consistently tasty meal every time and with every dish.

I've had crappy, uninspired meals and crappy, uninspired service at almost every Disney restaurant except the Napa and Steakhouse 55. I've also had good meals at some of those same places. The fact that it's a crapshoot makes it unexceptional.

I've gotten ill from meals held at both WDW and DL, too.

Now - in all honesty - I don't know what chicken they were eating at the Plaza, but we love that Plaza fried chicken!!

Yellowmickeyponchos is right.
Disneyland has pretty sucky counter service & even "full service" meals. It's totally not up to Disney standards. The hotel restaurants are a different story, they totally rock! I ate at Steakhouse 55 and Storyteller's and I loved both of them. Hopefully Disney will start upping the ante for the park food, similar to WDW.

We have never really eaten in the parks, at both WDW and DL, so we don't have high expectations. I am excited at trying out more dining options at DL for my upcoming trip and just about anything makes me happy, but I do understand Nancy's sentiment here. DL is not up to par with WDW in dining, even when considering relative size. Definitely not "unexceptional", but dining at DL could always use improvement.

I guess I just see it as park food and am fine with it, but I have to go on record for saying that I love Rancho del Zocalo. Yum!

The sad thing is, the food has gotten much better than it used to be. I remember it was hard to find anything but burgers and it seemed like the CS everywhere had pretty much the same menu. We used to leave the park to eat at the DLH for something different. I agree with what they said, it still could use some improvement.

I admit that not everything at Dl food wise it out of this world. The only thing Iver had at blue bayou that I thought was amazing was a beef dish (sorry cant think of the name right now) and dessert. Ive never had the pleasure of eating at steach house 55, or Napa though. Counter service aside from coke corner is always a disapointmed and I tend to avoid it. It just doesnt seem right to eat dry chicken fingers when I can go to bengal BBQ. Snacks however are suberb. Churros, Tigger Tails etc. I dont think they touched to much on snacks though.

Dreams - unfortunately - the boys never hit Zocalo, not that they said. So they missed out on that. We've like the food there. We'll try to review it for another show.

It kills me how they can do good "Mexican" in one park and not in the other. DCA stinks for that genre. I realize they are not striving for the same food items, but they could at least have consistency in quality and portion size/cost value ratio. That's a prime example of what makes the argument about the food valid.

We really like the Pacific Wharf Cafe - where we eat almost all of our DCA meals. Yes - the soup bowl or salad bowl is $8.95, but you can ask for the bread on the side and spend the rest of your day snacking on that loaf. That is a better example of value to portion - and tasty, too.

Oh - I didn't know you can do this! :) I like bread bowls but feel like I am paying for all bread and very little soup/salad. So do you get more soup/salad when you get the bread on the side?

I am half and half here. I do think that dl food could be better. However I also think people expect too much. It is a theme park...it's theme park food. I am fine eating those dry chicken nuggets or will take a risk with CS because I am AT disneyland...to me that is what is important. But everyone has their own views.

well i guess I pay the price even if some suck because i like the charcter meals. an the times weve been at bb have been good (besieds dh sick, not from dl at all)
I am a picky eatter tho an wont eat some of there (more healty things. give me chesse sticks, strips an frys any day over veggys)
My dh wants to try the plazza inn's fried chicken we just hope that its not as bad as they said maybe they just got bad service.
we go diering low times maybe thats the hint hehe

I think that a bit of negativity (podcast) is great, I mean as long as its valid.
