I was looking at the Timeshare Store resale listings and I only see four active SSR contracts listed on the website right now. They must be literally flying off the shelf!

I don't think so -- I see a LOT of Sale Pending listings for most of the resorts.

I don't know how the change is doing for DVC direct sales, but it seems to be doing great for resale!

i think with new rules about resale people are getting them prior to march!

I am looking to add on, but am in no hurry. We only use our points at DVC resorts and don't trade them out. I am willing to wait and see how it all shakes out.

Was talking to a DVC resaler today...one of the major 3! They indicated the whole point of what DVC did was to bring up the prices of OKW and SSR. This change has caused all of the "cheap" pointed resorts to be bought up. They indicated they've seen the biggest price per point change in the last few weeks...little change in VWL, BLT, AKL...etc...

There's quite a few more OKW contracts - maybe that longer ending date with SSR plays into people's decision right now. Pretty interesting.

It took me about a week and a half (and talking to no less than 3 brokers) to find the right SSR contract for me. Its now in Disney hands. The SSR contracts were certainly very popular, especially the lower point ones. The THV and the longer ending dates had some to do with picking it over OKW but not the only things. Hope to pass ROFR:hourglass

Everything is relative.

For folks who would never use DVC points for cruises or the various Collections, the change is no big deal. Like arthur06 above, they will wait in the hope that the price drops...as they should.

(Although one might want to weigh that possibility against the likelihood that Disney is going UP another $10 on DVC points, which might offset any negative effect of this change on resale prices.)

For those who would like to cruise, etc, (or aren't positive and don't want to preclude that possibility), this is the time to buy.

Another example:
Here on the DIS, where the talk is all Disney, all the time, many see longer contract terms as a good thing.

With other systems, the forever and ever committment to annual maintenance fees is usually seen as a BAD thing.

(In fact, that never-ending obligation is exactly why high-quality timeshare contracts are selling on eBay every night for $1.00 -- people want to get rid of the annual expense, and that far outweighs their interest in using their timeshare. Shorter term timeshare contracts are viewed as better by many people, because the obligation ends sooner.)

It's all about perspective. There is no ONE right answer for every family or every situation.

The Timeshare Store, Inc.® is waiting on Disney to provide us with a bunch of Points Activity Statements. We think they are providing them to us Thursday afternoon so we hope to have a new batch of listings coming soon.

FYI: We did receive 64 new listings today including 29 listings at Saratoga Springs. We weren't able to get them all together until close to closing time tonight.

We plan on sending out the email in the morning showing all the new listings and they will be posted to the website tomorrow as well. Of course, some might receive the email before we are able to post all of them to the site (it will take some time to get all 64 on the site).
