i just called to add the epcot pricess dinner and she looked over my ps's and started cancelling them left and right, she saw i had a 4 o'clock sci-fi and a 8:o'clock ltt on the same day and said well now i just have to free 1 of those you can't do that, and boom she cancelled them i had to explain that ds just wants to sit in the car and maybe we'll just get a apptzer or a dessert, but it took alot of conjolling, if i was not on the plan i think she wouldn't have looked so hard,i really spent ALOT of time on my adr's and she decided where and what time we should eat,she ended up cancelling 2 of my adr's a brkfst and a dinner,i booked them months ago, very frustrating..

I don't typically like to complain, but I would speak to a supervisor and tell them what happened. Even if you don't have her name, there should be a notation or something showing who you spoke with. I hope you are able to get your adr's back at reasonable times.

That almost happened to me last year. I had to really get on the CM because she was going to cancel "double bookings", but they weren't. DD and I go one place and DH and DS go another on some nights. We do that for breakfast too sometimes and when DD and I did CRT and Norway, the boys ate elsewhere. I was very upset! If she had taken the time to look, they were for parties of 2 and not the same time for 4 people.

Any time I call I jot down there name. If they seem rude I hang up and just call back. You know if there going to be rude within the first few minutes so why talk to them. Never had a problem with this system. I write down there name so I have someone to blame if there's any changes with out my permission. Tina

I'm really confused here - how on earth is a 4:00 at Sci Fi and an 8:00 at LTT a double booking??? Who is to say you don't want to experience Sci Fi with desserts or a sandwich or a snack? And on that matter...who's business is it anyway? Maybe your family likes to eat two large meals 4 hours apart??? It's not like it's a time related impossibility (Sci Fi at 7:45 and LTT at 8:00 for same people, for example.)

It bothers me that anyone would take the liberty of cancelling someone else's ADR. I won't get into the whole double booking debate here, but the CM doesn't know if you made one reservations for a few of your family members and some friends and the other reservation for the other half of your family and some friends.

:confused3

OK.. these are my thoughts.. first of all, why can't you be hungry in 4 hours.....who is she to make that decision for you??

Did you get her name? If so, call back and ask for a supervisor, get her name once you get her on the phone and report what happened..

I do not think that is right.

I think the problem is that they both fall during what CRO considers dinner. :confused3

I had a CM question a few of my ADRs last week.

They may be cracking down because people are booking more than they need then not showing up or calling to cancel.

I think I'm going use my cellphone # when I call to complete my ADRs.

And not all restaurants permit just going in for a dessert or a snack.

If this continues, I'd expect Disney to require credit card deposits and table minimums for all restaurants. They don't have enough restaurants to let everyone "tour" the restaurants for snacks, when they've oversold the dining plan and still have guests not on the dining plan to feed.

Really? What restaurants don't? We've done this MANY times at dozens of restaurants and never had a single problem. We often book an early dinner ps (around 4pm) for appetizers or a later dinner ps (around 9pm) for desserts. Never had a single issue. :confused3

I think that the issue of double booking really has to be addressed somehow. Since the inception of the DDP it is tougher to get a ADR. If a restaurant has all of their ADR's booked and people don't show, then others don't get a chance to go. I think that the idea of a charge for a no show (like they are doing at CG now) is a good idea. There should be some penalty for a party depriving other guests from a dinner of their choice just so that some other family can decide at the last minute where they want to go.

By the way, if a family of 4 makes 2 different ADR's for 2 each at the same time in different locations there should be no problem explaining that to the CM.

What a rude CM! I understand about the double booking issue but if you were planning to go to both of the establishments then it's none of the CM business! I can't believe she canceled 2 of your ADR's. I would definately call and speak with a supervisor about this. As far as no shows, I always cancel ahead of time if we are not going to make it to and ADR. We usually go to everyone of them but 1 time DD wasn't feeling well and we called and canceled. Good thing it was not CG becuase a few hours before.

We also have always done this. GF just for iced tea and desserts, Sci-Fi for milkshakes and onion rings, once at San Angel Inn for dessert and drinks, and there were a couple more but I can't think of them at the moment. We did this just to experience more restaurants, and we never had a problem. The CMs serving us were always pleasant without exception. Had this changed? I'm a little nervous about doing this now, since I would hate to be humiliated in a restaurant and denied service. :guilty:

To the OP, all I can think of is What Nerve that CM had! I would have said "stop right there! DO NOT cancel any of my reservations. Let me speak to your supervisor if you have a problem with me." I realize that people double book and then don't call to cancel, but canceling on people is not a consumer-friendly way of dealing with it. I find it hard to believe this would be Disney policy, but maybe just a over-zealous know-it-all CM.

Just thinking out loud here..

Where will it stop? Let's say you only want an appetizer and drinks and plan on dessert and coffee or tea somewhere else or what if that is all you want to eat or maybe since the prices are getting so high, maybe that is all you can afford, does that mean you cannot do it.

Unless Disney sets up certain policies like minimum spending for a sit down restaurant, or you have to order an entree to sit at a table, I do not see a CM saying you cannot have just dessert or just an appetizer.

Personally, if I make a reservation and cannot make it to the reservation, I always call and cancel.....it is just the right thing to do as someone else can use my spot. They always thank me for calling too. I have no problem with giving my cc to hold the reservation since I either always keep it or cancel in time so that someone else can go.

when you do that, are 2 of your table service meals used?

When you're calling all you have to do is tell the CM that you'll be paying OOP for a meal or two - but have yet to figure out which ones you will do that with. I've had no problems. If you're only going for appitizers or dessert as I've done in the past, I try to do it either very early or late so I'm not taking a table away from a family who is looking for a full meal.

This is what we do, too.

then there's always the folks who didn't realize that they needed ressies for the particular restaurant that will show up (and pay oop too... newbies ! ) and i can't tell you how often i have had to wait up to 45 minutes for a ressie i made only to walk into a half-empty restaurant... makes you wonder... how about we just make this "all-inclusive" and i will just send them my credit card and they can tell ME how much it is afterwards?? (it's not the mouses' fault.... )

There is no way Disney can enforce this! When we were there for two weeks in January we came home with an extra $500-600 that we had budgeted for food and did not spend. Why? Like nearly everyone else we encountered at WDW at that time--we were SICK! Too sick to eat very much food. Disney can't know your motivation when you are seated. Maybe you thought you would be hungry for a big meal--but the heat has gotten to you so you just want soda and an ice cream dessert. My SIL and her kids were on the meal plan and got so tired of eating they only wanted appetizers! I don't see how anyone could charge you a minimum or say that folks can't get appetizers and dessert. When we do this, we still spend a fortune. Imagine the family that comes in and each orders a $17 entree and water to drink. Totally allowable, right? Well, another family comes in and orders each person a coke ($2) an appy ($8) and dessert ($7). You are looking at the same ticket as the family mentioned above.
