We have been planning our trip for Sept 16-22, and have all our ADR's made for that week. Then got the idea to maybe go without the kids. The deluxes we would prefer to stay at aren't showing availability that week, so we thought we'd move our trip back a week to go alone and stay in a deluxe (GF or Poly)

I called today to see if we could get decent ADR's for that week, and then cancel everything we have for the week before (mostly character meals) EVERYTHING I asked for is either booked (Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Boma, Kona), or their earliest dinner seating is 9:20 (ohana, Cape May, Concourse) for Sept 22-29. Le Cellier did have a couple of lunch seatings around 2:00, but that was it.

Maybe we should keep the ADR's we have and go ahead and take the kids (they'd never forgive us for going alone anyhow!!!)

I called on Tuesday and got everything we wanted for the same week! We had our choice of Citricos, Narcoossee's or Bistro on one night (our anniversary) and Ohana breakfast for two of our days and our traditional Jiko dinner. I think I'm going to go ahead and book Bistro in addition to Citricos just because it was such a hard decision. Can't decide? Do both, eh? :thumbsup2

Hopefully something will open up for you :)

That's what I would do.

DH & I would never go without the kids.
We'll have plenty of time to enjoy WDW without them when they are older & out of the house.

Sometimes it's much harder to book ADR's for one or two people than for three or four, because they don't have a lot of two seat tables. When it's really busy, such as during free dining, they won't book a four seat table for two people. So that is why one person may find no availability, but the next person, who has a larger party, may have no trouble at all. It can also happen if your party is larger than four. There are fewer of the larger tables as well.

Gosh, I hope that isn't true since DH has a convention there and we are just ironing out the details--his department is hosting it and boy are they slow with details (irks the overplanner in me!). Anyhow I know it falls during those dates and if I have to eat CS all week I will not be a happy camper!

Good information to know!

Let me just tell you, we took our DD in Jan for her 13th b-bay, and left our DS-9 and our DD-6 at home with grandma. We all missed them so much! Even our 13yo was sad without them. We all kept saying "this is Noah's favorite ride, or Bekah would love this!" We did have special time with our oldest that we treasure, but we honestly really really missed the rest of our family! In fact we are taking the WHOLE family back in sept for 11 days!

uh oh!! That's EXACTLY when we're going!!! 9/22-9/29!!! We only have one ADR thats for 9/23 at Le Cellier!!! Oh no!!!

Wow glad I made my ADRs when I did. I had no issues getting tables at the places I wanted to eat for the week I was going for me and my boyfriend. I made them about a month ago though. Didn't think they would feel up that fast geez. I only made about 4 though but I think we will be fine. I didn't get free dining though so we can only afford so much.

We made our ADRs a long time ago, but we actually just changed a few of them this week and had no trouble, including CRT. (We wouldn't mess with a Le Cellier ADR though)

We are going the same week and have NO problems with ADR's. Even with my constant changing we still have gotten everything we wanted (except Le Cellier) at all the times we wanted.

I did Disneyland once without the kids and missed them so much it hurt. Never again, just not my cup of tea. :upsidedow

I am going by myself & I got a very last minute cancellation so I could get my ADR at Le Cellier for September 20 which means I officially got everything I wanted. CRT was what I thought i'd have the hardest time with, but when I called I got right in with many times to choose from. I guess its just persistance & being determined to keep calling until you get the ADR's you want that will win out in the end. Good luck to you & I hope you get everything you want.

Other restaurants still have availability for the week, you just have to be flexible with where you are willing to eat.

Ah yes, we free diners are a savvy bunch, booking up all our ADR's even before booking our trip.

We were planning on early August, and made all our ADR's. Then, when it was looking fairly certain that free DDP wasn't going materialize for early August, we started considering September, so I made another round of ADR's. Free DDP was announced, we booked, then dd's school schedule came out and, for the first time in 7 years, she's not starting until after Labor Day. So I started thinking maybe we should go before she starts school instead of taking her out later. I did some checking--resort availability, no problem; ADR's, BIG problem. As in, nonexistent. Forget that--what's a Disney trip (especially a free dining trip) without my favorite restaurants?

I'd stick with your original dates, ADR's and bring the kids as planned. They'll be grown soon enough, or won't want to go with you/be seen with you/acknowledge that they even know you before you know it.

And had some problems booking restaurants!

But, we are also one huge group (13 of us going (aunts, uncles, grandparents and kids)....

Not sure if that was part of the problem or not....but, at least we got a couple of decent places..and le cellier for lunch.

Oh, is there any chance at all that you could check in on Sept. 22, even if very late, so you could get free dining? That is SOOOOO close to having all of your meals for free! Is there any chance you could check in just that one day earlier????

arrive on the 22nd..but late in the evening.

I am not sure when the rest of my family is arriving on the 22nd...All I know, everyone will be around on the 23rd!

Great! Just wanted to make sure as some folks still don't know about the awesome free dining plan. Enjoy your trip...it would be so much fun to go with lots of family. We hope to do the same some time soon. :goodvibes

I got all of my ADRs for 9/21-9/30 about 3-4 weeks ago. Also, I had to be flexible on the time because most are between 7-8pm.
