Wow. Nice survey MSNBC.

If 20,000 more men and a freer hand to do their job
What exactly is their job.

PS - How serious where you in your suggestion? Do you actually think we have the ability to clear all the "good guys" out of Baghdad, blow the place up killing all the "bad guys", then just have everybody return and everything will be fine?

That's too funny. Like you guys really believe there IS an enemy!!
Of course we do.

Oh, by the way "do you agree with President' Bush's plan to add 21,500 troops to those now in Iraq?"

The results.

Yes. The United States can still win this thing militarily; a sizable increase in troop strength, and help from the Iraqis, will turn the tide

No. Define "win." After nearly four years, neither our country nor Iraq is better off. More troops going out means more body bags coming back.

I gotta agree that the slant is definately there. I think MSNBC should have left the second sentence, "More troops..." out of the "NO" statement.

Me either...of course the politically correct right wing would rather everyone simply forget the grim reality of war and just ship the soldiers over. God forbid someone mention American deaths and Iraq in the same sentence. Dealing with a "number" is easier to handle than actually thinking about human lives lost.
I still remember with Tony Snowjob tried to dismiss the Iraq death count as just a number. That talking point did not work so well for the bushies. We are now over 3,000 and the death toll is going to go up under the new rules of engagement as announced by bush. This is all sad for a war that was unnecessary and was based on lies.

The definition of "victory" is when one side gives up or quits fighting before the other side does.

So, if WE quit fighting before the enemy WE lose.

The terrorists know that. The Democrats know that. The media knows that. All three want us to quit before we win.

Says something, doesn't it.

This isn't a game. Solders are DYING in Iraq. There needs to be a very good reason for that. We need a clearly defined measurable goal. "The sacrifice of our solders is worthwhile because we accomplished ..."

Victory isn't about holding out longer than the other side so we can say, "woo hoo, we win". Solders shouldn't die so we "don't lose". "Winning" isn't a goal. It's the accomplishment of a goal.

What is our goal?

Here is an AP poll with similar results to this on line poll. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070111/ap_on_re_us/iraq_ap_poll
WASHINGTON - Seventy percent of Americans oppose sending more troops to Iraq, according to a new poll that provides a devastatingly blunt response to President Bush's plan to bolster military forces there.

All sides in the Iraq debate are keenly aware of mounting public dissatisfaction with the situation: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday it's one thing on which all Americans — including administration officials — are united.

Yet the Associated Press-Ipsos poll found widespread disagreement with the Bush administration over its proposed solution, and growing skepticism that the United States made the right decision in going to war in the first place.

Just as 70 percent of Americans oppose sending more troops to Iraq, a like number don't think such an increase would help stabilize the situation there, the poll suggested. When asked to name the most important problem facing the U.S., 38 percent of those polled volunteered war, up significantly from 24 percent three months ago.
