I thought I'd get a jump on making plans for the 2nd week in Nov, known as "Jersey Week" and wow - slim pickings on the resorts. I'm really surprised since it's 6 months out!

I had to do a split stay to get what I wanted. Possibly because it's the last weekend of Food & Wine?

Hi! Why is it called Jersey week? I was looking at booking this week because my son is off for 2 days from school but flights haven’t been released yet. Thanks!

Because Jersey kids get that Thurs and Friday off, every November, for a teacher's convention held annually in Atlantic City. A lot of them go to WDW.

Food & Wine ends Nov. 19th this year.

It's Jersey Week. It's F&W. It's the beginning of Christmas parties/after hours. It's pent-up travel demand.

When my kids were younger, we always went to WDW during that week. And we always saw people we knew! It's nice staying in NJ during that week because the roads and restaurants are not crowded; everyone's in FL.

We went a few years ago (maybe 5?) for the runDisney Wine & Dine and it was Jersey Week and the last week of Food & Wine. The parks were absolutely packed, and we spent about an hour at Epcot on the last weekend of Food & Wine before we decided we'd had enough of the crowds. That's the busiest I think the parks have ever been when we've gone.

I had the same experience as a kid. I grew up in NJ and went to Disney that week almost every year. My mom saw her coworker once and I saw some of my classmates or even my teachers lol I don't live in NJ anymore and now avoid that week like the plague when planning trips.

We will be there 11/3-11/12. We did the same week in 2018 and didn’t find it crazy at all, except for Epcot on the weekend. Epcot was absolutely insane the final weekend I was there in 2018. I lasted one hour in WS. It was probably due to it being F&W final weekend and Veterans Day fell that weekend too. I have all days at Epcot planned on weekdays this trip.

I believe 11/10-11/14 will also have Veterans Day in there which will add a bit (or a lot) to the crowds. I don’t think it being Jersey week really creates the massive crowds. I think it’s more the end of F&W and Veterans Day plus the extra sprinkle of Jersey folks. It’s why we chose to come in Thursday night (11/3) and leave the following Saturday (11/12) instead of doing Friday (11/4)to following Sunday (11/13).I have a feeling that weekend is gonna be insane so coming in earlier can hopefully help us out….maybe. I know I catch race weekend but I’ve never found that to create too much park congestion outside of Epcot.

I always see someone I know every trip I take to WDW. And I’ve only done Jersey week once. Us NJ folks just really enjoy WDW.

I was just at WDW and feel a huge difference since they require park reservations. Even though the parks we were at were sold out, it felt like it wasn't crowded. I have to say, I like the park reservation system because of this. It's a bummer if you can't get into a park because of last minute planning, but for when you can plan ahead the experience is much, much better.

I’ve always heard Jersey week is a really busy time with Veterans Day at the end of it adds to the crowds. I had wanted to go for 11/5 until 11/11 to cover my baby’s birthday and anniversary but could only get until the 10th and since I’ve booked there’s almost nothing available it’s crazy. I didn’t get the resort I wanted either so I’m hoping for someone to cancel so I can modify my resort. People do change their plans a lot so keep checking back if you want to modify your resort

I actually just took a peek at flights and prices are crazy already.

I thought Jersey week was changed. Normally the NJEA convention is the first week in November, but it has been changed to the second the week in November.

You're correct. I accidentally said "first week of Nov" but now it's the 2nd week of Nov. Thank goodness they still have Food & Wine going then. They'll probably have MVMCP starting by then, too. I'm glad they pushed it out a week.

It’s the first full week of November. Halloween is a Monday so it goes to the next week.

ETA: it’s always the same week as election day.
