Wow, Member Homecoming 5/25-27!!!!

Sounds like alot of fun, but we already have AP's. Wish they would have tickets to events only. I also wonder how hard it will be to get a ressie now for those dates. Whoever makes these decisions should poll members. I wonder what the percentage is of DVC members who hold Ap's.
It is something I would really enjoy, making the members feel very special and giving is the chance to get to know each other better. The price includes a few meals too.
I think I will call MS to check on avaliability!!!

I wondered about events only too. I think they may have forgotten how many DVCers use APs!

I had already booked Old key west for 2 of those days so now we are just adding tuesday night, hopefully at the beach club. Looking forward to it.

Hmmm......our 25th Anniversary is in May and we haven't decided how to celebrate.

This just might be a plan.:teeth:

Wow, it seems odd to me that they would only offer something that includes passes given the number of DVC members that probably hold AP's. We are planning to arrive at WDW on May 26 and I might consider changing our dates if they offered an events only option. The special events sound pretty cool. Of course they may not work out that well for us. Last week at MVMCP the kids were ready for bed by 9:30, and that was with naps during the day.

I agree. Hopefully they will have event only tickets for those of us with APs. I know Disney has always done this in the past for other special hard ticket events I have attended like the Disneyana Convention and special pin events.

Maybe they'll finally catch on to how many DVC members are not using the LOS discount and start looking into giving us other options. ;)

Overall, this sounds like a really great trip and I would think SSR owners would be especially excited about attending. What a way to kick-off one's membership!

The Christmas festivities at SSR certainly make me want to stay there during the holidays in the future!

Hi,

We will be leaving on the 25th!!! Bummer!!! We will be @ BCV from the 22nd to the 25th. Have a good time to those who can go!!

Well I was tempted until I saw the deal includes the tickets. I have an AP and will not pay extra for an additional entrance to the park. Has anyone spoken with MS on this?

(Maybe all of us AP holders should send an email reminding them we want a discount on the event!)

::MinnieMo I agree, dvc should have given us more noticed about the special event. I understand they were waiting on the SSR grand opening, but i think they should have put the info out there and said " special dvc event in may 2004, the dates coming soon as soon as they are available". ::MinnieMo
we are going Easter and a magical gatherings for christmas, so, i really cant change my dates, only if i can conveince dh we need to go home for the third time next year, plus it would be great to meet our neighbors. sounds conveincing to me, but not to dh.
::MinnieMo Hmmmm, think, think, what can i do, i want to go home with the rest of the neighbors ::MinnieMo

In the past, has DVC offered an "event's only" ticket? We were planning a trip for Labor Day weekend, but our schedules are flexible. We would consider changing them, but I would not but the whole pass, as we already have APs.

DVC has never done anything like this before. The only similar event was last year's "member cruise". I'm not sure whether they'll break it up into "event only" tickets unless they get an overwhelming demand.

I called to check on availability this morning, before learning about the details of the events, but decided not to book until I could know for sure what the plans were. There "was" availability at OKW (the only place I checked).

I'm also really disappointed that the tickets include park admission.

I've already sent my email...

(edited to add)

Well... My email came back because I used the old 9800 address.... (gotta fix that!) :)

Anyway - I just got off the phone with MS, as I thought I'd go ahead and book the dates "just in case." The CM informed me, after putting me on hold that, the price is definitely going to be as posted, there will be no "event-only" ticket offered.

I'm really sorry to hear this... But it makes my decision a lot easier... We won't be attending.

Just booked a studio for 5/25 - 5/27 waitlisting for 5/23 - 5/24. Looking forward to this special event as a new DVC member. My first stay on points.

They still had 1 bedrooms available for the whole time but I am try to conserve points for a summer and early December trip.

If these tickets are hopper passes, couldn't you use them at some later date or even for someone else in your party while you take advantage of your AP?

These tickets are being created especially for this event. They aren't real park hoppers -- I imagine they will be more like LOS/UMP passes that expire when the event is over.

When I read the Clubhouse news I was really excited about this event. While the "special" events sound really great I also don't like that they are not "event" only tickets as we also have AP's. I was looking into booking a late spring/early summer trip for us and when I first saw this I was going to call for availability for those days, but I won't b/c in my opinion its too much money for an AP holder. Plus I wish we could just book one or two of the events. I don't think DD could take three big nights in a row.

Is anyone considering a solo trip just for this event? Or a trip without kids.

I am seriously considering it, although we are scheduled to be at BCV June 5 thru 12. I may have to phone a friend and go.

With all those evening events, I wouldn't even go to the parks during the day!

I wonder how long the 2 day hopper PLUS is valid after the event.

I checked MS for a studio at SSR and was told there is very limited availibility that week.

Thanks for posting, and hope to see you there!

P.S. The 1/2 Ironman is that week also.

You know, it would have been nice if they would have planned this for a date *after* all of the new SSR owners can book. Since we own in building 2 at SSR, we can't even stay at DVC until June 7th.

Our kids get out of school May 21st, and we'd prefer to be there that last full week in May!

Grumble Grumble...
