WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Just have to add another positive experience with USGB. I sent in five pieces. I had taken them to a local place, got an offer of $441, took them to one of the traveling shows (Roadshow) and got an offer of $302, sent them to USGB on Monday, got a call yesterday with an offer of $733!:woohoo: Three of the pieces were gifts from an old (over 20 years ago) boyfriend - had no idea what to do with them. Now they're paying off the new refrigerator! Won't hesitate to use them again!

Following all the wonderful reviews on this thread, I sent in my gold Friday. I got a call on Monday. About 20 charms, a broken necklace and bracelet, and some rings. $350 for it all. They said the pay out included the stones in the rings. I doubt they were worth anything (just little sapphires, and bought by a highschool boyfriend) Did they 'pay' anyone else for their stones? My thoughts are they weren't worth sending back in the first place, but seemed odd they were paying for them. Either way, I've got a check coming to me for stuff that I haven't worn in almost 15 years! Yahoooo!

I have a tennis bracelet of cubic zirconium stones, and 18kt Gold OVER sterling silver. Would they take that?

Sent my stuff in yesterday, they called me today. I had put a code in for first time sellers on facebook. At first they weren't going to give it to me, because I didn't have that much stuff. They were only offering me like $30 more then I could have gotten locally. Granted gold had went down a little since the beginning of the week. When I said that, he took a minute and came back and offered me the facebook deal. So I ended up with $301. I am glad I followed this thread. But don't be afraid to say no, if you don't like it.

Do they do silver as well?

I went through my jewelry box and I have to say, I have a few pieces, but not much. It seemed as though everything I looked at, I thought, oh, I could give that to my daughter some day. She is currently 4 1/2 , so I will be holding on to it for quite a while, but I just couldn't bring myself to part with most of it.

yes the do, it's not nearly as much. I saved my class rings, and my social work pin from graduation and such. I am not big on Jewelry. I figured those were the things my dd would enjoy.

I have a bunch of pieces, and I'm having trouble with the same thing. DD really doesn't get into jewelry (she's almost 11), but I wonder whether she would want them.

I've got over 3 oz. of gold stuff :cool1:, and took it to a local store yesterday, which was closed for the weekend (they were recommended here). So now they're all together in one place and I'm starting to have the guilts.

This is probably another thread altogether, but my mother would probably kill me for even thinking of getting rid of any of it. One is a gold omega necklace (gift from my parents) which doesn't really fit well around my neck. They got two gold "charms" of sorts for it, which are 14K, too. I have a gold charm bracelet which was given to me when I was young -- DD doesn't want it, I don't want it, and it's not really that sentimental. Is it worth keeping it around simply in case she asks to see it when she's visiting (less than once a year)?

I sent all my old stuff on Friday. I'll let you know my offer as soon as it comes in (hopefully late tomorrow or Tuesday). I sent a bunch of items my great grandma had that were just too gaudy to actually wear and kept the ones from her that I loved.

Ok, so after over a year of lurking on this thread with the occasional post, I finally decided to bite the bullet and send in my gold to USGB. My package arrived today at 10 AM but I did not get a call yet.

I sent in the following:
6 gold necklaces
1 broken gold name bracelet
1 ladies gold ring
1 mens gold ring
3 gold pendants
4 pair of gold earrings

I haven't worn these items in over 20 years...

We'll see what they offer.... I'll post when I find out...

Airfare just went down a bit and would LOVE to fly to WDW rather than drive...so I just sent an email to USGB with my list and request for their pack:

1 - 8mm solid domed wedding band
1- 18" 3mm (maybe 4) solid diamond cut rope chain
1 - 8" matching rope bracelet
1 - 3/4" heart locket
1 - pair of 5mm hollow gold stud earrings
1 - 7" braid bracelet
3 - hoop earring charms
1 - single hoop earring (hollow)
1 - class ring
1 - small cross pendant
1 - small circle pendant w/tiny floating diamond
1 - 5 year Zales pendant (used to work for them)

Let's see what I get...

I got the call last night on my work phone so I didn't see the message until this AM. I called them back this morning and spoke with Steven. He didn't provide much of an explanation of the amount but I was ok with what he offered. He offered @ 588.00 for my stuff. Not bad for just things that I had laying around for 20 plus years. I also found out that one of my pieces wasn't even gold to begin with. I wish he would have told me what my onyx was worth though...he just said it was part of the total. He wasn't very friendly. I spoke with Jose before and he was very nice to speak with...

Overall, I had a good experience with USGB and would recommend them to others. Now if I could only find some more gold in my jewelry box :goodvibes

I spoke with Steven too. I honestly did not like him and kind of think he ripped me off a bit. He told me alot wasn't gold, which I know wasn;t true. I asked for it back and he told me to fill out the paper, which I did....twice, and nothing ever came back. That was back in Oct. I should call or write and see if I can get it back or moeny for compensation. I was so fed up with them at the time I didn't pursue it, but I should've.

I sold my ex husband's wedding ring and the larger portion of my first weddinbg ring last week and got almost $200! It felkt good to get rid of something that had negative feelings attached to it and I used the proceeds to upgrade DH to an I phone 4!!

That's awesome!

Sorry about your experience. :(

Well...he's not the friendliest chap... at first, I thought maybe I just had a bad day and was reading him wrong...but sounds like I may have been correct. I'm still ok with the amount he gave me but it would have been nicer to receive a bit more of an explaination of what was what....

I should have asked him to transfer me back to Jose....I liked Jose.:thumbsup2

To whoever started this thread: thanks!

I would have NEVER considered selling my old gold. It sounds so....pawnshop...or something.

But after reading so many people's experiences, and how easy it all was, I cleaned out my old jewelry box and sent about 3 oz of stuff that was broken or unwanted.

Well they called today and said about 90% of it was NOT precious gold (I was expecting that as I wasn't sure it stuff was gold or not.. but it was nice to know what was).

Anyway, even with the little bit of stuff I sent in and the even smaller amount that was precious metal, I still got over $93.00 deposited by USGB in my Paypal account for it. I can't BELIEVE it!!!!

Thanks to all the budget board gold moms!!!!!:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Sent yesterday and got $548 in my husband's paypal account about 2 hours ago. That was $100 more than what a very reputable jeweler here in town quoted - and they say they are "serious gold buyers". I am very pleased!

Has anyone sold any gold lately? I have some chains from HS but not sure they are actually gold as they are from an ex-boyfriend. And have just been sitting for years collecting dust. Would you take them someplace local just to get a price to know if it is worth sending in?
