I have an ounce of 14k gold and a little less than a half an ounce of 10k white gold.

We took it yesterday to a local place and they only wanted to give me $230 for the 14k stuff and $40 for the 10k white gold.

I did the calculations according to the "Today's Payout" chart on USGB's site and figured what I was offered locally is only slightly more than half of what USGB would offer me.

Just shipped several pieces out today!!!! I am hoping for about $100 - nothing really big, just some odd earrings and charms (some may not even be gold)!

Silver jewelry is more or less worthless to sell as scrap metal. You will only get about $4.50 for a 1 oz. chain, which is a pretty nice sized chain. I would try selling it on ebay as a jewelry piece.

I haven't read through all the posts so not sure if this has been mentioned. My dept. secretary went to a gold selling party last week and she said she took a few pieces and walked out with $220 cash! She booked a party herself and our receptionist also booked one. I asked if she can get me more information when she has hers since I live far from her I cannot attend. She said there is no pressure to sell they will weigh it and tell you how much you will get, the hostess received a nice gift basket with wine in it and $25 to purchase snacks and if anyone books you get another $25 per person.

Take your gold to a local jewelry store and have them tell you what it is worth. I did this, then sent mine to USGoldbuyers and they gave me $400 more.

From what I have read on this thread, gold parties can be a ripoff.

Well, USGB got my package and called me by lunchtime. The verdict??? They offered me $225 more than what I was offered locally.
