WOW.
Something happened to me that I thought wouldn't come for a while.
My parents bought me a car (well, i payed $1000).

It was really unexpected, and pretty much came out of nowhere.
I was outside, and my parents were like
'come on melissa, we're checking out your car. Now!'
I don't even have my permit yet! (I should be getting it this thursday though)

I was like sahweet!
And sooo excited!

So, I got to where we were meeting the guy who was selling the car (it's used, but it's pretty nice) and i had nothing against it. (besides it's color, I really don't like tan cars, but hey, as long as it works, i'm fine.
Its a 1998 Ford Cortour.
The car was $2,800.
My parents wanted to nagotiate it for $2,500.
We bought it for $2,400.

:D

We payed a $100 downpayment, and are going to give him the rest once the bank opens. So, I'll probably have my car home monday.

it's not perfect, but it was cheap, and it's only my first car.

:]
for you other DISers with cars, when did you get your first car, and what kind?

for you other DISers who don't have a car yet, what kind do you want?

Congratulations!

It looks nice, especially for someones very first car. Now take car of that puppy, okay? Lol.

Good luck on driving and getting your permit. :)

Yay Melissa!
It looks nice. I like it. =)

I haven't got a car yet. We were looking for a less expensive truck or jeep kind of vehice, but just decided to wait until I got a job and drove some more.

I'll be driving my mum's car. It's pretty old and I hate it, but once I've got a year or two down, I'll be allowed to take my dad's car out sometimes.
I won't be buying my own, I'm going to be saving for too many other things to save for a car.

Congrats Melissa!:goodvibes
I really want a Honda accord in black.

Oh, forgot to say. I'll probably get my mom's car. It's nice and pretty new, in great condition! Silver, Hyundai Accent 2007. She gets new cars every couple of years, so I'm fine with just taking hers. This is, of course, after I get over my fear of driving.

Congrats!

I drive a 1992 Acura Vigor. It was my mom's. It's pretty old, but it's a car (that actually works)! I think my dad is getting a new car this summer (he wants something more fuel efficient since he drives at least an hour each way to work every day), so I'll get his car - 2006 Honda CR-V. My mom got a new Acura TSX last August - I'm not allowed to drive that one

Yay for new cars!

Well, my mom, since I was 10 or so, has always looked for cars that she thinks would be safe for me to drive in when I was older. She found that Escapes are pretty safe. She bought me my car in 2001 (2002 model; the designs for 2003 models weren't our taste). My car is my favorite possession, excluding my twilight books. It has a top of the line stereo in it, soft leather seats, and it's pretty :D

Congratulations! First cars are always special.

My first car is the one I have now (2002 VW Beetle). We bought it brand new in 2002 from a dealer. We had another VW Passat that had a lot of problems that I intended to drive but we sold it because it was too costly to maintain. My mom knew I wanted a Beetle so we bought it with intent for me to drive it later on. It was almost three years old when I started driving it in 2005. So, there is my story!

I'm getting my Dad's 2002 Toyota Camry sometime over the summer.

It's silver, and it's got 90,000 miles on it.

He wants to get a pickup. It's nice because it's all paid off. I just hope it'll last me with probably over 100k miles on it.

Yay, lucky you! It's nice! :thumbsup2

I have to pay for my own, apparently. My parents will pitch in, but I have to pay for the majority. Won't that be fun. I'm not quite sure what car I want yet, I know I should start looking...I was thinking about a Honda Accord.
