I just called to book a Cat 6 on the Special Western August 19 - 26th 2004. I was curious if there was a large difference in price between the standard Western Caribbean and the Special Western Carribean.

I was quoted the following:

Cat 6 - Standard 8/12 - 8/19 - $5,800

Cat 6 - Special 8/19/ - 8/26 - $4,500

$1,300 - Are you kidding me? And we get to go to CC twice??

The DCL CM and I were so suprised by the price disparity that she checked it three times while speaking with her supervisior.

Needless to say, I booked in a heartbeat.

Congradulations! I would have booked so fast my wallet would have gotten whiplash!:hyper:

How amny people in your cabin, and any kids? That is a great price!

Holy Cow! I'm off to call!!!... Wait - do you mean 2006? (duh, I see that now in your subject line)

Any opinions here: I'm going in Nov - should I wait to book next cruise on board, or book now then re-book once on board...???

A family of four (photos below) ;)

Two adults, DD 13, DD 2 (ages they will be at time of sailing).

Buddy - see my edit above; p.s. great pics!

Tough to say if you should wait. I like booking and choosing specfic staterooms. I was surprised that many were already taken on that cruise. If your next cruise is going to be at a popular time of year I would consider booking today.

I initially booked the June 24th 2006 "special western" this morning, since that was the first week after school ended & thought it "might" be a little cheaper than in the middle of the summer. For two adults & two kids (8 &4..can't believe they'll be 8 & 4!!) $5200 (w/ins.). for a secret porthole.

Then came here & was looking around & noticed the 8/19 "special western" as well as the 8/26 "regular" and thought they might be a little cheaper being closer to the start of school. I called DCL back & When she quoted me the $3600 for 8/19 I said "are you sure?" and she started to question it as well & said that it was certainly the price. I said don't even bother with checking 8/26...we'll take the 19th!! She checked anyway & for some reason it was $50 more for the 26th?? We were both puzzled, but she seemed as happy as I did that I got such a great deal (for DCL standards!!)

So I guess we will be joining you in 2 years!!

I still am just too chicken to book a cruise in the middle of the hurricane season, so I picke the May 27th '06 cruise. I was a little surprised at the price, also. It's pretty much the same price that I paid for our 5/04 cruise when I booked that in '03! :)

Okay, I just booked for 8/19 too - talk about an impulse buy! -don't know whether to thank you or scorn you Buddy! ;)

Of course, I wasn't thinking hurricanes - duh! where have I been the last 6 weeks!

I have a family of 5, so it's still exponentially more than if I had just 4. I reserved 2 Cat 9s for now (there was only one secret porthole left, and no other room nearby for my second room.) To be honest, I wouldn't have done it without DCL's fairly liberal cancellation policy....which I had better go re-read, just in case!

OK, I booked for 8/19, too.

2 Adults, 2 kids, Category 9 - $3,499.12.

Should add, no air & no insurance.

Seems good to me. Our last one was $5,100 for a cat 6 over spring break, which was booked 11 months in advance (using Allseas Travel). Now to get an Allseas quote.

Yipee!!

Oops, I meant 2 Cat 11s. Because I need two rooms, it came to $4738 for the five of us, no air, no insurance. I'll add insurance later.

I'm still in shock; wasn't planning my NEXT cruise when I got up this morning!

A "Special" Western replaces Key West with Castaway Cay, so you visit CC on Sunday and Friday.

Personally we would rather be on CC twice instead of most ports so it works for us and it costs much less.

Jeff

I'm confused, if you go out to the DCL website the 8/19 cruise is showing as an Eastern? Help I want to go to CC twice.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

web site is not showing antything beyond Jan. 06 so maybe you are looking at 05?
I do NOT like the price I got for July 06! But we start school so darn early, can't do those August dates!:(

a bunch of the dates are up & running on DCLs website. I still can't seem to get to any of the "special western" sailings though. ??

Nope, just tried it again and I am getting the correct dates in 2006 but the cruise I want now thinking 10/14 is listed as an Eastern, and the price is different than what DCL quoted me on the phone. arrrrrhhhhhhhhh:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I was quoted $8488( 2 adults and 10,8 year old) w/ insurance for the 7/1/06 Western. Sounds high to me too. But you only live once and my kids are not getting any younger. I am wait listed for Cat 3 for the same cruise and they would not even give me a price since none of the Cat3's were available. Has anyone gotten a Cat 3 for this sail date? And what did you pay??

I can't believe he is booking 2006 when we haven't even taken the California trip in 2005! It is just the wrong time of year for me, Aug. 19-26, because of school starting as soon as we
get back....but, he was so demanding....take it or leave it....
I LOVE when he takes control!
