Just an FYI for any AA flyers here....

Here’s how you can reach Platinum or Gold status in less than 90 days! If you fly often with American Airlines you will love this. To obtain either all you need to do is call American Airlines Customer Service and tell then you would like to take a Platinum or Gold challenge. If you think you will fly 10,000 miles in the 90 day period you should do the Platinum challenge. If you think you will only do 5,000 miles take the Gold challenge. These challenges only commence on the 1st and 16th of every month so make sure any upcoming flights are within these dates. Also the miles flown are based on points accrued, so you may want to ask for more information. The phone number for Customer Service is 800-421-0600. As soon as you reach your goal you will automatically be elevated to Platinum or Gold. Seems simple enough but most people don’t know about this offer because American Airlines doesn’t publish it.

Most airlines have a similar offer. If you are a preferred flyer with one airline you can often become a preferred flyer of the other by asking.
