This is the longest, rolliest earthquake I've been in. I felt like I was rolling on a ship.

I was just on the phone with a customer while it was happening. She was fussing so it got her off my line. ;) But I do hope everyone is okay, I'm sure that is scary.

It was really weird. I didn't even realize it was an earthquake at first. I just felt dizzy (like you do when you get off of a ship), and then heard squeaky sounds (the house moving). Usually, they are a lot louder, and the ground moves more.

I'm glad it was far away, though. I hope those people are fine.

I'm in Los Angeles. I believe the earthquake was in Mexicali, Mexico. You can see the big square on the map below. Note that everytime this page is refreshed the map will be refreshed to the latest that the quake site has. When I first posted, there was one big red square, and now there are several squares showing all the aftershocks.

Any idea of how folks near San Diego faired? My brother lives in San Marcos.

San Diego was shaken up, but friends on Facebook aren't reporting damage - just shaking.

I just heard from my brother who lives in San Marcos. He said they had no damage, but it was, by far, the strongest they've ever felt since moving to California several years ago.

On that map on top, it looks like there was a smaller one in CA also (?) It's about 1/2 way up on the coast.

That plate seems to be shifting. The earthquakes lately are going off around the plate.

OMG--Is anybody else watching on CNN. The coverage is just very very sad. They were actually talking to Bill Nye the science guy a few minutes OK.:rotfl:

ETA--not laughing at the earthquake, just at CNN

Yes, there was one up north also. Note that the map is linked from the earthquake site, so as this page is refreshed more red squares are popping up as aftershocks happen.

These are the earthquakes in Northern & Southern California. A 5.1 just hit So Cal, and a smaller 3.8.
