I love Valerie Bertinelli! I so wanted to be her when I was a preteen and teen. She was never a skinny girl, and I know she always battled to be thin.
I think she's adorable, and I can totally believe she's a size 14. I'm only 5'0'', and I'm a size 8, but if you saw me on TV or in a photo, you might think I'm a bigger size than that. When you're short, and you're not built petitely, you tend to look heavier than you really are. Does that make sense? LOL!
I mean when you have a "womanly" build (bigger chest and rear) on a short frame, you tend to look heavier. Well, anyway...I can relate to her. And I think she is a size 14. I also know my hubby thinks she looks great! She's a class act.
The same thing happened to me at Penny's a few years ago-I bought 2 pairs of shorts-both the same size and brand and one fit ok, the other pair was skin tight and I could not zip them up! Had to return them!
Valerie Bertinelli does have a fuller face-and they're showing her in a pretty loose, billowy top (I just saw the commercial). I think she looks pretty good for 47. I hope I look that good in 8 years! Eek. Did I just give away my age?? Oh well...
So true. If she decided she wanted to lose weight, that is her choice and I wish her luck! However, on ET they were saying "Valerie Bertenelli has BALLOONED to a size 14". Such a negative word. They could have approached that story completely different...but no, they had to say she ballooned and how huge she is.
I think she looks bigger because she is on tv and short. I don't think I look that plump when I am a size 14 but I am tall. I think she still looks and great very pretty - aging well. I wish her much success.
As a guy who doesn't go on to threads like this too much, I think she looks great considering what she's been through. She had been married 20 years to a very popular "Guitar rock God" who was a member of one the wildest rock bands of their era. Back in the day, Van Halen was the band to see and the stories of their partying, doing drugs, binge drinking, etc, was legendary. The breaking up or parting of David Lee Roth in 1985 was not only a high profile event, it was stressful on the band and their spouses. I heard that she had a miscarriage in 86 and that stressful period of time is blamed.
She probably put up with more "rock star lifestyle" nonsense and heart break, than we will ever know. Valerie Bertinelli married him when they both were very young and at the peak of their careers. How she stayed with him for almost two decades is beyond me.
I remember not to long ago she was still pretty glamours in photos and who among us still has the body they did back in the late 70's and 1980's? As a former die hard fan of VH and an admirer of Eddie Van Halen's talents, I'm sickened by the condition of him and the current state of the band. He looks terrible and neither him or his brother didn't bother to show up for the band's induction to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. That speaks volumes, in my book. What a waste of talent and years of good music. The millions of fans of VH deserved better, IMO.
I normally don't give a rat's behind about celebrities, but in this case I feel for her and wish her the very best.
What really irks me about these stars going on any diet plan is they get it for free. I could and would be willing to lose some weight and push their program if it was free.
I read that Kirstie Alley got her program for free and 25 of her family and friends also did.
I wonder if Valerie would list me as a friend?
Of course Kirstie Alley got it for free - she also was paid $10,000 per pound that she lost as her fee. With that kind of incentive it would be real easy to lose weight
Man! Why is it so hard for women to lose the weight. The older I get, the harder it is to lose. And the fashion industry isn't helping in any way either. Whatever happened to just trying to be healthy for you...not what society tells us to be.
Don't know about you all, but I am loving the Dove ads! Real women...real bodies
If I went by society standards, I'd need to lose about 30 lbs (now, I'm not saying that I can't stand to lose some weight, but damn!)
