I didn't think our Thanksgiving family stay at our OKW Grand Villa could be topped, but it was!! We booked the GV at OKW 11 months out and tried to add Sunday Nov. 30th for 8 months to no avail and I was not surprises due to the holiday time. I booked a one bedroom at BWV for just the 4 in my family at 8 months out and thought I would have to send the other 8 home early or out to fend for themselves. I tried all week to get at least a two bedroom at OKW for two of the families. One evening the front desk had one available and they told me I had to call MS in am and when I did, of course, it was gone. UGH.. On morning of checkout OKW called and had a studio. I almost took it but my son at this point had his heart stuck on BWV and the slide for the day. On a whim, I called BWV and asked if a two bedroom comes available could I move from the one bedroom. The room assigner gets on the phone and tells me that she has a one bedroom ( which I already had) or get this - a GV and a nice one at that. Well, didn't take much to use those 79 points for this once in a lifetime chance - this family moved from that OWK GV to a BWV GV!. It might be the same sq. footage as OKW but the long layout made it seem bigger. We had SIX patios - six sets of doors with windows overlooking the boardwalk, and when we looked up from the Boardwalk we had the entire top floor along the boardwalk side of the first red building on the cornor above the store.
Now, as alot of you know, I just love my OKW but this villa size and location can't be beat. We feel we stayed in the best room on property. To get a chance to experience it and have it come at the last minute was a great ending to a great Thanksgiving stay at the world. I didn't think I could get my relatives jaws to drop any further than they did when they walked into the GV at OKW.....but they hit the hardwood floors at BWV - the size, the view, the location, the luxury. WOW!! :hyper: :hyper: :smooth: :hyper: ::yes::

Glad everything worked out for you.;)

how wonderful!!!

did you by chance take any pictures of the BWV GV that I can send a link too????

Glad you have a great stay!!!

Wow, what a great ending to your trip!!!! The BWV's GV are without a doubt very impressive. They are definitely a substantial amount of points per night but Disney knows what they have with these jems and they do charge for it! Please post pictures!

It's always fun to read about these "magical" things happening to other families -- it gives me hope they'll happen to me one day too!!

Congrats!

Now, you 've gone and spoiled the "folks". What a magical trip!!

I walked out of my regular home and left the camera bag with my digital camera and camcorder in it. I had my brother take specific pictures at OKW of our GV Holiday Decorations to post here. He left Sunday as I didn't know about the BWV GV yet. Boy, was he upset when he found out but happy for us! Well anyway, when DB left the digital camera left too so all I had to take a picture was the kids disposable cameras. I got one shot of the 40 foot great room and an outside shot from Patio #1 to my son on Patio #6 100 feet down! I will try to scan after I develop them.
Thanks for all the kind responses.

Sounds great! It's all those wonderful windows. Maybe we'll get a chance to give it a try one of these days when we have the points to burn! Ouch!

OK, so now I am thinking we should use some of those points one year for maybe 2-3 nights to check this GV at BWV out thing

108 pts per night for our likely time in 2005....yikes

Let's see 108x2 = 216
+ 3 nights in a 1BR at 40x3 = 120

Total 336 - versus our 320 contract

hmmm........

thanks for sharing - sounds like a royalty suite - $1,320 to $1,915 cash rates per night....wow

thanks

Sounds like you had a great trip. Now I know what I am looking at when I walk on the boardwalk. I always wondered what kind of rooms were up there.

Sounded like a wonderful trip !
Is it my understanding that BWV have both 1 and 2 story GV's ? Just curious....thought I read that somewhere ?

Oh Richy, why so silent? You are always so verbal concerning BWV, why so silent now????

The room number was 5047 at BWV. Now in all fairness, the OKW Grand Villa (we had 1623) was also grand. It is so very nice with the grand staircase. We sat 12 for THanksgiving Dinner at the dining room table and the round one at the end. The kitchen was bigger at OKW. You only have one patio (nice size of course) for the OKW GV. I always wondered why they didn't give a second one on the second level. It is hard to get everyone out there. The openness of the foyer and the staircase is spectacular.
We consider ourselves very lucky IMHO to stay in the two nicest rooms on property. I didn't mean to take away from OKW, it was just such a surprise to be in one at BWV too. They are both at a level of luxury, both priced from $1400 and up a night, that nothing bad can be said about either. It will be hard to go back to our regular one bedroom, but we will gladly for Christmas!
The OKW one and two bedrooms are still larger than the BWV one and two bedrooms. The grand villas are comparable in size and luxury, just different looks, and mighty nice at both. BWV has the location on Boardwalk, near Epcot and MGM. Considering the location, and the six patios, Grand Villa wins at BWV but again IMHO, OKW wins for one and two bedrooms. Glad that we have the option for both and have point contracts at both.
