Wow... Brad Pitt to adopt Angelina's kids

I think it is just weird that they are even talking about this publicly. Why does the public need to know this if it isn't to suit their needs in some way? I guess I just think it's disgusting how celebrities take commitment so lightly. He is fresh out of a divorce, he and AJ are not even married and they feed the public a story about adoption of her children? Please. How about actually seeing if your relationship has any staying power before jumping into adopting her kids? From the article and the mouth of one of their publicist:

Brad Pitt has started the process to adopt Angelina Jolie's two kids, the actor's publicist tells PEOPLE.

A legal petition to change the names of the children to Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt was filed in Los Angeles, according to publicist Cindy Guagenti.

"Brad Pitt is in the process of becoming the adoptive father of both children," Guagenti says.

"There are no plans for marriage at this time," she adds

I think it is ironic that people have no qualms making the commitment of raising children together, but are leery about committing to marriage.

Call me crazy, but I would take them more seriously if we were hearing about adoption plans after commitment of marriage.

Btw, is AJ pregnant. or is that just rumor?

It was made public by Brad Pitts publicist, I imagine they both were in agreement to release this info or it would not have been mentioned.

They adopted Maddox when they were married, so I'm surprised that Billy Bob wasn't already his adoptive dad. I remember that soon after the divorce, he and Maddox were spending time together, so I guess he either gave up his parental rights, or maybe never signed on to the whole idea in the first place?

I'm 99% sure *she* adopted Maddox on her own and Billy Bob was never involved. I think that was part of what led to their breakup.

I don't think Angelina is ever going to be someone that I would consider stable. I remember that she said the greatest love of her life was a woman with whom she had an affair (in Japan, I believe). Also, I don't think she could have singlehandedly broken up Brad's marriage to Jennifer, without Brad's willing participation! They're both nuts! Maybe they felt they needed him as a back-up parent, in case she ever suffers an accident in one of those small planes! I kind of resent that she's now considered a spokesperson for the US in international affairs. Who elected her to that position? I think she's getting way too carried away with herself, but that's just me!

I seriously doubt that AJ and BP will be an item 10 years from now. That''s just going on the history of Hollywood relationships.
I hope if BP is actually going to adopt these children he is doing it because he has a firm commentment to them and not because he wants to be with their mom.

Actually she was named as an ambassador and spokesman for the UNITED NATIONS Commission on Refugees, so the UN "elected" her to that position. I think she has done a tremendous job bringing attention to the displaced and forgotton that too often gets neglected. The children are far better off because she came into their lives than they would have been remaining citizens of their foreign countries. Children only benefit from caring adults in their lives and all children benefit from a two parent family.

I'm surprised about the negativity towards Jennifer Anniston here. I've never been a big fan, but everything I've read indicated that she was devastated by Brad leaving her and that their split was not over children.

I have a hard time understanding what their hurry is. It just seems cruel. IMO a reasonable person who had just divorced his wife could wait a few more months. Adopting before a marriage seems weird too. It's like "I want it all - right now and I won't be happy until I have it all - right now!"

I sure hope not for the children's sake. But you may not be to far from the truth. I also feel Jolie isn't stable in spite of her ambassador spokesman for United Nations commissions on Refugees. Never really had much respect for the woman. Except for her adopting those children and giving them a chance at life that I do admire.

Angelina has gone into third world countries and tremendously helped the people (or more so the children) there. She even took two of them into her home and her family. She uses her celebrity and her money for good. She is a far better person than I am.

As far as I know, adoption records are not necessarily public record and are/can be sealed to protect the welfare of the children involved. I have no doubt AJ could get a judge to place something like a 'gag order' and/or seal the records (or whatever legal jargon would apply) on the specifics of her childrens adoptions, if she was so inclined.

I think AJ has done many wonderful humanitarian atcs for children all over the world. However, I think the decision to have BP adopt her children this quickly into their relationship (and before marriage to her) lacks good judgement, IMHO. Of course, my opinion means nothing to anyone but me and is totally irrelevant, LOL

I don't get their whole relationship. I remember Angelina Jolie saying how she would never get involved with a married man because she has seen the pain that infidelity can cause...but I think it is obvious that something was smouldering there at the very least. I guess that is what she used to get Brad to leave his wife..."No physical intimacies until you leave her!" and then BAM - he's getting divorced! If he could have had some on the side he probably never would have divorced Jennifer.

Oh man, I must be so bored today because I do not even care about any of these people. The only celebrity personal life I care about is Ewan McGregor's. LOL.

While not a fan of BP, JA or AJ, I have to admire AJ for staying true to herself despite what other people think, right or wrong, past bizarre behavior be damned. I think JA seems nice in her interviews but I can never shake the undercurrent of me me me that seems to be there, and that she doesn't want her fans to see. As for BP, can you say "I'm in the same boat as Tom Cruise middle age crisis". At least BP has the sense to keep his mouth shut unlike TC!!!
