Wow! Big news.

What I don't understand is how you link your tickets if you haven't even bought them yet.

:scratchin Yes, that would be difficult......

Is there something your referencing where it's been said you could?

Don't most people buy their tickets when they get there? Unless you have an active annual pass or nonexpiring past tickets?

Oh - got it. I really have no idea about that but I'd guess it leans more towards people buying ahead of time. Certainly for people on these boards.

We haven't bought tickets at WDW for years when we've used tickets although it's mostly been AP's. For any family coming though we buy before hand - usually Undercover Tourist.

Because they don't want thousands of dollars basically sitting in an account not earning interest for 2+ months.

Of course I could be wrong, but I don't think most people think of it that way (even if it is the smarter move). I think most people would have the money in a checking account with very low interest accrual or put it on a credit card anyway...now, I am not saying that's the BEST way, I'm just saying that's what most people (especially in the US, where we are terrible with money!). I think many people just want everything settled, including paying for tickets. And, as a PP stated, a lot of people will buy at UC to save a few bucks.

We have always bought our tickets at the gate, with one exception, I believe, when we ordered APs.

But these were vouchers. Can you link the voucher numbers to the MBs or my disneyexperience or whatever for the FP+?

I'm not saying no one buys them at the gate, I just don't know that MOST people do. I "think" if you have a confirmation number you can link to MDE but not 100% certain.

I usually buy ours at our local Disney Store months ahead of time. Unless we're getting AP's, then I do the voucher thing.

Yup. That's how I look at it. If I don't have an AP at DL that I'm paying monthly for (a southern California resident perk) I hate buying my tickets early. For our last trip to WDW I dragged my feet when it came to buying park tickets and was annoyed that I had to sink money into them days out before arriving just to reserve FP+ times. Because I waited I didn't get the times I wanted. The whole concept (Disney wanting your money early for this) bugs me. I see that it has to be done though. Disney is smart.

My only issues with FP+ were that I felt like I was on my phone too much working within the SLOW app to either figure out what we were doing next or try to change what we were doing next, and the triple FP didn't work for us. My kid is 2, so no thank you on those automatic thunder mountains fast passes when really all I want is jungle cruise.

Yes, you can link the AP confirmation numbers or voucher numbers - they have a display in MDE to show you where to find the number to input.

I'm not sure why most people would wait til they get there?

If you're military and buying the Disney military special tickets and you live too far from a base or the base you live closest to has to order them too (which takes time). It was just easier to go through SOG.

With 5 kids we have to budget. Tickets are always the last thing we purchase. Airfare and resort reservation availability can all change. Airfare prices generally goes up the closer we get. If we decide to fly in a day before or do something else after our stay I like to have our itinerary planned out with our tours, etc, paid for. I save money throughout the year to get passes. When we arrive I have that money put aside and then we just worry about food and souvenirs.

And, when you're traveling with other folks that you've invited you have no control over when and how they purchase their tickets. If we want to do things together it makes it difficult if I don't have control over their tickets to link with our FP+ reservations.
