Wow. Big changes in amenities at Park Vue Inn!

I have never stayed at PVI, but I'd hesitate to use the BBB rating as a reason not to stay there. I just looked it up and they have received 4 complaints (in the previous 3 years), and the reason it is an F is because of ONE unresolved case. The BBB says they will give a poor rating if a case is unresolved.

In contrast--the Grand Californian has 96 complaints with the BBB in the past 3 years, all have been resolved, so they have an A+ rating.

So take those ratings with your own grain of salt.

 That certainly puts that issue into perspective!! thanks for that information!!

:thumbsup2I feel the same way about the BBB.

We are also booked here for October and I am not phased that the early dinner has gone as we would not have utilised that anyway, but the water in the lobby would have been a great perk for us as we are coming from Australia and wont have a car to drive somewhere to buy water.
Does anyone know if we can have snacks/water delivered to this hotel? And where from?
Thanks
C

I can only imagine how much water it would take to wash down vegemite! ;)

I've always liked FFI but I'm a Marriott junkie so probably viewing the world through biased eyes there :) Hojo right next door is nearly as nice and usually cheaper, and as others have said, a really good deal for the price, with rooms and general property that feel nicer than PVI IMO.

That is interesting that you think the Fairfield Inn is nicer than Hojos. I found Hojos to be definitely a step up from the Fairfield Inn--mostly because Hojos has interior hallways (makes for a much quieter stay--you don't have the kids running up and down the concrete halls, maids carts, security issues, etc) and the pool area is nicer, too. They are similar, but not really equal. I do think it depends what building/room you get at Hojos, though. The deluxe and superior rooms are woth the extra cost.

Many of the hotels/motels that are directly across from the park just are very shabby and motel-ish. If you know what you are getting, then you won't be that disappointed--but it takes some attitude adjustment.

Our last trip we had a great experience with the Doubletree Suites on South Harbor. My husband gets points there. I also saw that there was a Marriott very close by to our Hilton--and it looked very nice like the Doubletree. They are both right on the ART bus line, and it is like a 5 minute ride down Harbor and they let you off at the front gate. That Marriott probably is more what you are use to as far as Marriott standards (rather than the FFI)--and I'll bet they provide a buffet breakfast, too. Maybe check it out?

I spoke with Melissa at front desk yesterday and Its true they will not be providing those amenities from I believe she said 7/1 on. Cookies will still be available at check in time, 3-6p. (I always call and get Great customer service rather than email)
We have been staying at Park Vue for years, when you could get a rate of $59.99! Will be there in Nov. We have never had a problem and nothing less than outstanding service. We go in Off season when park closes at 8p so we never go back for the evening meal anyway. With the rate we pay and the breakfast alone its still worth it for us.

This is how I generally feel as well. The perks are nice, but weren't why we stayed there over the years.

I was still disappointed to hear this though.

Don't quite know what you mean by shabby.... as you can see in the following google stree view pictures, all of the hotels across from the park are at least as nice looking, if indeed not nicer looking than Hojo's. Each place has it's own strong and week points. We have stayed at several different ones now, including the Disneyland hotel, and have stayed at Hojo's many times over the last more than 20 years. while the rooms at Hojo's are indeed very soundproof, the way the doors slam shut, combined with some inconsiderate neighbours can make for a very disturbed sleep. on our last stay there in Dec. there was some sort of youth group, I'm thinking cheerleaders? staying and they were soooo noisy. they decided they were going to have some sort of team meeting out in the hallway at 11 at night, after I had gotten our 2 grand daughters to sleep. I poked my head out and asked if they could please move their party into their room! As for security, the 2 doors into our building were propped open very late into the night, and did not require us to use our room key to open. On previous stays in building 1 and 2, at least the doors were closed at night. We will I am sure stay at Hojo's again sometime, we really like it there, but there are other very nice places in the area, and honestly, I just don't get what you mean by shabby, especially if you are comparing with hojo's and fairfield inn. :confused3

Hi Janet,
I am sorry I said shabby--I don't really mean it is seedy or anything. I guess I was more thinking of the time we stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn (right across the street)--to me that place was a bit shabby. I hope that doesn't offend anyone. We had a very bad experience there, so maybe that colors my view of it?

That is terrible that you have had noise problems at Hojos. You know, we have only stayed in the Premium rooms (on the top floor) and we always marvel at just how quiet that hotel is. Maybe it has to do with staying in that particular building? I think it is building 1.

Take care,
Lisa

we had a bad experience at Best western park place inn as well, and it is one place we will not stay at again. I love those premium rooms in building 1 at hojo's! right on the top floor with the big skylights, they are so bright and the view to DL is awesome! building 4 is one of the little 2 story buildings we love too, at the end closest to DL, also on the 2nd floor with the skylight, overlooking the water play area. In the morning before they start up the raging waters... :lmao: it is quiet and the sun shines on the balcony and you can sit there and the monorail starts going by, and you can hear the train in DL and other sounds from the park, it is so awesome! Since we started staying there over 20 years ago, Harbor Blvd has changed a lot. It is far more resort area feeling now. I love all the plantings along the streets and in front of the hotels, and how they have all the little lights on all the trees at night. Even after midnight having missed the last shuttle to hojo's  and having to walk back, we have always felt very safe walking that area. I feel the same going the other way to the Candy Cane Inn as well, although it seems there are less people walking that way. I really appreciate all the effort the city of Anaheim and all those hotels are putting into making the area so nice, I hope they keep it up!

Im curious when these bad visits to BWPPI were? Because we have stayed there for years. Just last summer even. They keep it super clean wonderful cushy beds and comforters. We love that place.

We've stayed at Park Vue Inn twice, and that was because they had an in-room, 2 person jacuzzi tub for what I thought was a really decent price being right across the street from the happiest place on earth! I haven't done the research since 2008, but at the time, it was the cheapest jacuzzi room I could find near Disneyland. Very nice and romantic for an adult getaway. The last time we were there, we got the gift basket. It was nice, but we didn't eat the fruit, and only had a small cup of the wine. The water was handy. We had no idea they even offered more water than that. We drive in, so we've always brought several of our own. And when we go to Disneyland, we typically eat in the parks or Downtown Disney as part of our vacation, so we've never made it back for their dinners. I don't usually eat from any continental breakfasts, but DH thought it was okay. I don't think we've ever eaten a cookie or had punch.

I guess what I'm trying to say is we chose PVI for other reasons than the perks they're cutting out. Just another perspective to add to the mix! Oh, and can you beat having a Cold Stone's RIGHT THERE? I don't think so!

Just wanted to say that we had great customer service at the park vue. We didn't stay there, but had to cancel and alot of people had compained about that they didn't receive their refund or they had to call many times to get it and that was not our experience at all. We called, they were very polite and it was refunded to Mastercard within 3 business days. No worries:)

Unlike a lot of people on this board, I don't think Park Vue's breakfast and hors dorves are very good AT ALL. When I'm on vacation, I'd like some quality food, and it's just not quality. What I'm going to miss are the free water bottles and grabbing a cookie on the fly :rolleyes1

I agree and i know we are in the minority here. I could not bear to eat ANY of their food. It was too unhealthy/commercialized for me. Even though it was free.
I never saw their bottled waters. Cookies weren't good either to me.

I don't understand how people think Hojo is better because of interior hallways. The main doors are ALWAYS propped open. I don't feel anymore secure there than a hotel/motel with exterior doors.

It all comes down to what is important to your family. We like like location and cleanliness. Now places like PVI and Desert Inn are dated. This doesn't mean they are not clean.

The breakfast at PVI is not gourmet. It is convenient. There are many choices. PVI's breakfast is fine, especially compared to other hotel/motel offerings. Just go next door to Desert Inn and you will appreciate PVI. We like the outside patio. I think there are plenty of healthy choices. I had fruit, boiled eggs, and raisin bran each morning.

Never had the cookies? O my! You must try next time (between the hours of 3-6p of course, lol) they are soooo good:)

We've stayed there at least 5 times in the last few years. In my experience, the doors can be propped open for short periods of time while people are loading or unloading. But that's temporary. They've always been closed after that, and locked (requiring room key access) after hours.

Great... we were going to try this place for the first time on 7/7 for the in room hot tub and amenities, but now I think I will save the $50 extra a night and go back to where we usually stay. Thanks for the heads up! :thumbsup2
