wow,any nextel employees here? UPDATE with a happy ending.

Check your purchase contract. When I got a new phone at the end of this summer with a different company I had 15 days to return with no strings attached. If you dont have anything like that, I would doa chargeback assuming you paid via credit card. They are not fulfilling their end of the deal by providing you with a defective product. We own an online retail business, and although chargebacks sometimes are filed by crazy customers who are just looking to scam us and get a product for free, the chargeback system is in place to protect the customer in cases like this. With chargebacks, it is very difficult for a retailer to win, especially in cases like yours where you have pursued resolution without avail.
 
I LOVE Nextel I also have the I870 and have had no problems at all .But your story is just 1 of many of bad customer service.

I'm lucky that my company has been with them from the start and we have a different CS that we deal with (also get a nice discount).

I would take it to the nearest STORE or Service center and get it fixed it's just a SW problem that can be reloaded into that phone .

As for T-Mobil, Cin, Verizon they all have many horror stories just like nextel .

I would also check and see if you can get a phone/plan linked to the NYFD that would put you in the better CS and discounts they see it when they bring up your account.

In the mean time use your old phone or pick up a $5 one at a pawn shop to use .
 
Yeah, about the 15 day return deal...just bought 2 new phones at Verizon on Wednesday and they offer the 15 day exchange. I'd imagine most of the phone stores would, wouldn't they? I'd sure check into it! These people at Nextel are treating you terribly! So sorry!
 
hi all,
a happy update. i was sent to a bay ridge,brooklyn service center.i went told the man the whole story.he said,"they would'nt send you a new phone first".no problem. he took the same model phone out of a box,right in front of me,it was brand new. took the sim card,flash card and battery out of mine(broken one) put it in the new one and said have a great day.no charge,and form now on if you have any problems come see me,here.he was to say the least a really nice guy and my new phone works fine. :cool1:
