I found out about this sight through a travel guide book I had gotten out of the library. My husband and I are fairly new to the internet and when I found this sight I was estatic!!!
I want to be just like you guys, hee hee(much to my husbands chagrin). I was fortunate enough to be taken to Disney world as a child.(Magic Kingdom and Epcot) I was there 2 or 3 times and it has stuck with me all these years. I have dreamed of going back, of being there with my husband, and of taking our children. My husband has never quite understood my obsession and longing for the place. He keeps saying no place could possibly be THAT amazing!! I've been reading through the threads on this board for over a month soaking it all up like a sponge. All of you are Amazing with your tips and incredible Disney Knowledge. I've been blown away. My husband just laughs everytime he sees me on here. But don't worry we'll make him a believer yet?!;) Our first trip is planned for Feb. 2004. It will be our 10 year wedding anniversary. I made him promise me he would take me and our children to celebrate. If I have to beg, borrow or steal (just kiddin') we are going :D !!! We are from Ont. Canada and will be driving down. We would like to stay in the Fort Wilderness cabins, they sound really nice. And probably the most feasible for us with having 4 children. Well, I am so looking forward to asking for all your expertise from all you Disney veterns and Professionals.:p I have loved so many of your trip reports and pictures. My first big decision is whether to use a travel agent or just do all this myself. The idea of this is all very overwhelming and this is the first ever trip we will be taking. I've read alot of positive about the dreams unlimited travel agents maybe someone could tell me who they would recommend. Looking forward to being a disney addict myself one day with a big ol' list of resorts under my name:D !!! Oh and thanks for reading my novel, will definetly keep my posts much shorter from here on in:rolleyes: :)

Welcome to the DIS Boards! I found this website about 3 years ago, and the information I've gotten has been absolutely invaluable! You will definitely enjoy it. The only down side is that it turns you into a Disney fanatic and you'll end up going at least once or twice every year - LOL!!

I've always planned the trips myself for 2 reasons - 1) I can do it cheaper on my own, and 2) I get almost as much enjoyment out of planning the trip as I do actually going on the trip!

I haven't used Dreams Unlimited before, but from what I've read, most people seem very satisfied with them. I think they are much more willing to work with you to get the best deal rather than your average travel agent.

By the way, tell your husband that this website really IS that amazing! We'll turn him into a Disney fanatic, too!

First of all WELCOME TO THE DIS...disneyaddictwannabe

Your right, you'll find lots of help and useful information here at the DIS. For starters here is a link to Deb Wills site regarding Fort Wilderness (FW) . http://www.wdwig.com/faq_fw.htm

If you haven't check out her site, it is amazing. There are lots of pictures as well as a detailed article about FW and the cabins. Good luck with your planning and post with any questions. :D

Welcome aboard!

Big THANKS to the Board Moderators for keeping this site so usable and friendly.

We are driving also. WHen are you going???

This site is amazing, you will learn some neat tips and I agree with those above. I love planning this trip myself... I wouldn't let anyone do it for me...plus with this web site no travel agent could know more about Disney then the Vets here.

Welcome to the Dis!! you will love it here!! If there is anything you want to know,or talk about its here!!! Have a great time!~!!

Welcome - I found this site a couple of years ago when I began planning our first Disney Trip - we went last November and we are returning for our second trip in a couple of weeks!

The Dis community is so welcoming and understanding of all Disney questions ( even if they have heard them a million times) LOL! :D The Dis board is also the only place where we can obsess about Disney without any one thinking we are nuts!
Just sharing thoughts such as - pulling out the suitcase for the next Disney trip - or getting the best rate at our hotel of choice - can send many Dis friends into a frenzy.;)

Seriously though, you have found a great place to ask questions, and share your excitement.

Welcome disneyaddictwannabe.

Welcome to the DIS! Isn't this place great! It's also addictive! Annmarie

Welcome to our merry band of DIS addicts.

We also have information about the cabins on this site: Ft. Wilderness Cabins

There's a lot to do over at Ft. Wilderness, and you can't beat being onsite. :D

Welcome! I'm sure you'll get all the information you'll need right here. And feel free to ask anything - people here are very eager to help out.

I've heard great things about Dreams Unlimited, though I have not used them myself. They didn't exist my first couple of times going to WDW and by the time they did I was comfortable doing things myself. But from what I've heard, if I were new to all this now, I would certainly give them a try.

Again, welcome and I hope you and your family have a great trip!

Welcome......

Isn't this site great. I found it earlier this year and am so addicted to it! I've learned so much. Sure wish I knew about it when planning our first two trips. :p

Welcome to the DIS!!!

Ask lots of questions! You'll find tons of information on this board and others on this site. If you can't find an answer just ask. I'm sure there ill be someone who can answer.

When I found this site I was amazed at the amount of knowledge these folks have. Made our first trip much more enjoyable. We had hep planning and organizing which made for a more relaxed vacation.

Be sure to check out the Canadians forum. That is the place to go to ask about discounts for us. BTW, where in ontario are you from?

I'll add my welcome! This is a great place & very addictive!!

I think Ft W sounds like a great choice for your family. With a car, you'll be able to visit the local grocery stores for b/fast foods, sandwich fixing's, etc. It will really help you cut down on the food cost with 4 growing children!!

I'll welcome you as well.

Three other websites I found extremely helpful are:

www.mousesavers.com (great for info on discounts and tips for saving $$$)

www.wdwig.com (great for all around general info--even has menus for many restaurants)

www.***********.com (great photos--even of many resort rooms)

Of course, this site is great for asking specific questions.

Also, try getting one or two guidebooks. Between these websites and the guidebooks you can do a great job booking things yourself (assuming your willing to take the time to do the legwork and research. If you go with a travel agent definitely go with one who specializes in Disney. This site is sponsored by Dreams Unlimited and the response to them on the boards has been great.

Good luck and have fun planning.

Be Afraid... Be VERY Afraid!! ;) The DIS is extremely addicting.

WELCOME to this wonderful place where we share our love of all things Disney! :D

Welcome, this site is very addictive. I found it about a year or so ago and check it out several times a week. I have been to WDW a fair number of times and know a fair amount about it but I always learn something new.

Personally, I love to plan my own vacations especially now knowing about this site, mousesavers and wdwig (great photo's and plenty of helpful tips). I had a co-worker who uses dreams unlimited and never had a problem with them.

Have a great addictive time learing all you can for a wonderful vacation. Your husband will soon be addicted.

I'll add my welcome also

The first time I planned our family trip, I used a travel agent and they did it all from airfare to tickets and it was great. I then found this board. I've planned my own trips ever since and it really saves me the money plus I have a lot of fun doing it. The only down side to planning your own trip is that you (at least I did) spent alot of time on it. If you have the time (which I really don't but I enjoy doing it) then I think it is cheaper to do it yourself.

Good luck!
