I am absolutely, positively sure that this will have been discussed here before (unfortunately, search facility is next to useless) but I was wondering what people thought about the idea of being able to enter a park, just to eat at a particular restaurant, for a certain amount of time.

I totally understand why it isn't done - it could be hard to police, would mean more work. But, certainly, I for one would be happy to pay a token amount or leave a credit card deposit or something to be able to get into a park to eat at a certain place.

What does everyone else think?

Personally, I dont see the point, to walk through the park, to get to the restaurants, and enjoy 0 attractions? No thanks

I don't see how it could be enforced. What's to stop you from saying you were going to Crystal Palace, but instead riding 4 or 5 attractions?

It might be good, but I don't think too many people would take advantage of this because of the time it takes to park, to get into the parks, then to get to the restaurant, etc.

If Disney was having problems filling their restaurants, they probably might investigate something like this. But in reality, it would be almost impossible to ensure that people left the park after eating in the restaurant, unless you had them personally escorted back out again, which would take time and money.

However, in the "just imagining" category, it might be nice to do that! I probably wouldn't have to pay for a park hopper then since half the time all I wanted to go into Epcot for was dinner...

I think at one time Epcot Center might have offered this for the locals, but I think it may have been back at the time where you actually had to wear your pass to get on rides.

Disney has also offered an after 4pm ticket for locals, which I am sure was to try to encourage them to go to the restaurants for dinner.

its not very difficult. cc deposit and adr number checked at entrance. receipt from restaurant to show proof of visit and its a 3 hour visit.

Given your 3-hour limit someone can eat dinner and still go on some rides without having to pay for entrance into the park. The only way I could see it working would be to make everyone who wants to go on a ride put in their admission ticket in order to gain entrance but that won't happen because it would slow everything down way too much.

No way. Too many people would abuse the system making it a mess for everyone.

Essentially, Disney already offers this by having the park hopper option and the ability to add more days onto your ticket for just a few dollars.

But I thought I saw somewhere that you can get into a theme park for 2 hours for free. Basically you have to give your cc info to guest services and they allow you in the park for two hours. I think it's supposed to be mainly for buying souviners you forgot to get or maybe even dinner at a restaurant. If you don't return to guest services within 2 hours they will charge your cc for 1 day admission.

Now does this keep people from coming in and going on rides for 2 hrs for free, Nope!!! I'm sure it happens, but if even half the people that take advantage of this do it to just buy souviners then Disney is making money. Besides, how much can you accomplish in 2 hrs anyway.
