Would you wait or go??

i'd wait just do to all the construction that is going to start happening... i don't think i'll go back until fantsy land is just about done, wich leaves lots of time to save up for a great vacation!

How about 1.5yrs and maybe you can do both - do a split stay between value and deluxe? We no longer go dawn to dark at the parks, and really enjoy our time at the resorts so now we prefer the deluxes, but when we did go commando ie: last time at POP, it was the perfect choice for us, and we ended our vacation at Hard Rock Hotel mostly hanging out at the great pool. In our experience, there really isn't any point in dishing out the big bucks on a resort if all you do is sleep there - I have to admit to pressuring DH this year to upgrade from POR to AKL as I really would like to stay there, and I think it will be a long time until we go back to WDW - if we didn't stay there I think it really would have affected my enjoyment of the trip, so we are tightening our belts even more and will do so for the next year to afford it. All depends on the type of holiday you want - good luck in your decision!

For me, the more Disney the better. I'd rather go every year. Even if it a long weekend at a value one year and a longer trip the next.

Good idea, a 4 or 5 day value stay in 2010 and a deluxe in 2011

Perhaps you should consider a split stay in which you stay most nights at a value while visiting the parks, then move to the Poly for the last couple of nights to enjoy the pool, the monorail for quick trips to the MK, and fireworks from the beach ...

This is exactly what I was about to write.
Best of both worlds. Even if only one night at Poly just before you leave.

run both sets of numbers again.

for the cost of a deluxe for us, we can get 2 other stays.

i spend time at the resort to relax, so we do mods.

are you commando style?

would your spouse want a little more room?

also, what time of year are you thinking of going?

I would definitely wait and stay at the Poly, since it's where you've always wanted to stay there. Personally, I wouldn't go if I had to stay at a Value- but that's just me.

As others have said, depends on what's most important to you. If the true resort experience is very important, wait. If you're going to spend most of your time at the parks, go, go, go!!!:banana::banana:

DD and I are staying at a value for the first time later this month, but we are go, go, go people, (at DW--when we go to the beach I'm very picky about the accommodations). I'm a little nervous about a value, would probably not choose it if I had my whole family with me because of space, but am also excited--it's DW so must be great, and as long as it's clean I'm good to go!

I'd go value! My last visit was at the Poly and it was very nice. However, I would rather go value and go often.

I would go sooner and stay in a less expensive resort. But then - I have absolutely no interest in the Poly.

If you are happy staying in a value (which you will only know if you have stayed in one before) go for it!

If you are just going to yearn for the Poly (though I am not a fan and don't understand), wait.

I would stay at the value then have a dinner at the Poly so I could walk around and check out the resort, maybe watch the fireworks from the beach.

I personally feel that the deluxe resorts are worth the money and the wait. I don't do the dining plan, so can't really say if it's worth it, but I"ve stayed at the All Star Movies, and while nice... the Poly kicks butt! Great volcano pool, you have access to the beach for fireworks, fab restaurants and theming!:thumbsup2

I'd go in one year and stay at a Value. Why postpone happiness? As much as I like the Deluxes they are just rooms.

Stayed at the Values plenty of times and love them.

Go Go Go!!!
