Would You Upgrade?

I'm going to be mobbed by this but I totally disagree with most of the posters here. My family and I went to AKL in Dec. and truthfully felt it was a big waste for us. We had a savana view and yes we saw animals but truthfully we were gone more than we were there so we could have saved our funds to do something different like Cirque de Soliel or something ....

Exactly!

I do not have an annual pass. If I am paying $40 or so per day to be in a WDW theme park, that is where I am going to be, not lounging at the pool at the resort.

That said, AKL and WL are beautifully themed and worth a short visit.

Or, if you have the money, go ahead and stay there!

I totally felt it was worth it. This was the first resort we took our son to at 28 months old and he was amazed by the animals. Wake up giraffes wake up! It still sticks in my head. It is one of my favorite resorts for theming. He got to feed the flamingos and do alot of fun things at the hotel itself. We found we spent more time at the hotel that trip. The pool view was a great value too we could see some animals and the pool from our room. We ate at both Boma and Jiko and loved both of them. The Mara was excellent. The other huge pluse at this resort is the zero entry pool for the little ones. They can run in and out of the water and some of the pool games were geared towards them so they could win prizes too. I am a snob at this resort now because I always stay club level so I can do the sunrise safari. It is one of our favorite things to do in the world so it is worth the splurge for us (we can get a good FL resident rate off season). The playground is right near the hot tub so the kiddos can play and parents can switch out with each other between the hot tub and watching them play. I really cant praise this resort enough we love it.

I would definitely upgrade to AKL. We've stayed there a number of times and it's absolutely gorgeous. It has great restaurants, a beautiful pool, not to mention the animals!! I can't imagine that you would be disappointed in AKL at all. We love it!
