Would you try this?

I just got one of those "this is not a sales call" things saying we've won 3 days/ 2 nights at one of a select number of vacation destinations, dinner for 2 at a restaurant we like, and entry into a drawing for one of 4 really nice "grand prizes". This is a timeshare thing (she didn't say as much, but practically did) -- but it's for an area I like anyway.

Would you go waste about 2 hours of a Saturday for the possibility of a weekend vacation and dinner, or just ignore it?

I'm really debating because DH and I would *love* to be able to use that 3 day vacation, and I'm sure we could find something to do at one of the choices (she didn't list the choices).

Most of the time I ignore these things, but I dunno...

Oh, the company is Liesure Arts -- anyone heard of them?

My DH and I have done that. I just went with a firm NO in my head...listened to the sales pitch, then DH and I had a really great weekend!

Raj, I've heard some good stories about people taking these timeshare people up on their offers. But we have yet to be fortunate that way.

I'm not saying this is what will happen to you, but one time, we went to see a place called Split Rock in Pennsylvania. We were supposed to get 2 nights/3 days in both a PA resort and Atlantic City.

The presentation was supposed to take 90 minutes; the jerk we dealt with kept us there for the better part of a day.

The 2 nights in AC were basically unusable--it was at a really horrible hotel and couldn't be taken on weekends.

The 2 nights at the PA were also unusable. Not only could we not use them on a weekend, but we couldn't use them within 7 days of any major holiday--they listed 10 different dates as such. Worse, we had to book at least 60 days in advance and couldn't change once we did. With my DH's working schedule, this could not be done.

Like I said, I've heard of cases where these things work out, but we haven't had that kind of luck.

Never heard of them -- but I wouldn't bother with it. It's usually too much of a hassle.

we did it when we went to Fl and it was a blast we told him right off the bat why we were there and he did it as fast as he possibly could lol he didnt want to waste his time either when there were potential sales to be made.

Good luck!

You can win contests from legit operations (i.e. Disney!) where you really win something with no obligation. I wouldn't go for anything where I thought there was a sale connected to it unless I thought I really wanted to buy their product.

A lot of these timeshare contests are scams. If you are interested in taking a tour for a low resort rate, I'd suggest calling a legitimage timeshare directly. Hilton and Marriott both have them.:D
