Would you these do 3 resorts in 6 days? Or am I crazy? :-)

My husband and I and our DD8 (and possibly my mom) are thinking about heading to WDW Jan 1-7, 2014. I am thinking of a split stay at 3 resorts in those 7 days. Here is what I am considering (and why):

1. The first 2 nights (W 1/1 and Th 1/2) at _POP_ or AoA_ (LM room).
Why? Jan 1 is expensive, so I'm trying to save a little money. My DH and DD are vegetarian and we enjoy interesting food, so I'm really interested in Landscape of Flavors for some of our meals. (If we stay at POP, can I request a room near the Generation Gap bridge?)

2. The next 2 nights (Fr 1/3 and Sa 1/4) at _The Dolphin_. Why? We LOVE Epcot and I am totally enamored of the idea of staying within walking distance of that park (and being able to walk to Hollywood Studios as well would be icing on the cake), but the other Epcot resorts are outside the budget. By putting Dolphin in the middle of the stay, we'd be able to use ME to and from the airport. Also, it appears to be cheaper on the weekend than during the week for these dates.

3. The last 2 nights (Su 1/5 and Mon 1/6) at _Port Orleans Riverside_. My mom took the whole family (16 people) to WDW last year and we stayed at POP. She is interested in going a step up on the next big family trip. I have read such good things about POR so I thought it would be a good one to try. It looks beautiful and I think the boat ride to downtown Disney would be fun for us.

What do you think? Would this work, or am I crazy?? (I am assuming we will get a cab to take us to and from our Dolphin stay.)

Thank you for any feedback or suggestions you can offer.

Although I enjoy split stays I would not do 3 in 7. Maybe 2 in 7.

I love split stays, but would only do 2 for 3 nights each. If you are up to it, go ahead, but your plan would allow for no down time. I need a little down time so when I come back from vacation I feel rested instead of exhausted.

It is totally doable, but personally I would not want to spend so much time changing hotels. The packing time, and the time it takes to move your stuff, check in /out and adjust is just too much for me in just 7 days. If it were me, I would do two places.

I agree that split stays can be fun, but for a 6 night trip I would move just once. Packing, moving and checking in every other day would take too much time, not to mention that it's possible you might be without a room until after 3:00 every other day.

We did a double split stay last year and loved it! But it was over 7 nights. 1 night Beach Club, 3 nights Bay Lake Tower and 3 nights Animal Kingdom. We loved it! We never really unpacked though, just lived out of the suitcase. We taxied with our suitcases to each new hotel. In fact all 3 hotels were ready when we checked in around 10am each time. (I did online check in so they knew we would be there at that time.)

Not sure if I would do 2 day segments though... For six nights I probably would do one split with 3 each or a 2 night and a 4 night.

It is doable though! Have fun!

That would be too much moving around for me in such a short trip. I would do 3 at POP then 3 at Dolphin or POR. On our last trip we did 2 nights in Tampa, 3 at the boardwalk and 1 at the dolphin and it was miserable moving for that last night. We never felt settled in anywhere and I didn't like that.

I did 3 resorts in a single trip once. That vacation was 10 nights long and we split it 3-5-2 between an offsite hotel, an onsite resort and a Universal resort. It worked out great and we enjoyed each leg of our trip. However, I would never attempt 3 resorts with as few as 6 nights. It would feel as if we never got settled in at any one place.

Choose 2 resorts. If DME is important to you, then they should both be Disney resorts. Otherwise, do the value resort first and the Dolphin second. You can arrange for ground transportation back to the airport with Mears or a town car company. It might be more affordable than a taxi.

I agree with the others that 3 might be too much, maybe 2 would be better. Checking into a room can be a somewhat lengthy process and would cut into your park/fun time. Also having to pack/unpack every other day would be time consuming and you would never get to really settle or get comfortable in one room before you had to leave.

Thank you all for talking some sense into me! One of my downfalls in life is trying to do too much. I think I'll go for 3 nights at Dolphin then 3 at POR. I really appreciate the feedback.

I think three resorts is too many. The packing/unpacking is a pain, but the worst part of it, is moving your luggage. You drop it off @ 8am or so & the biggest disadvantage is not receiving your luggage until usually between 3-5 pm..
Two resorts is great!

I don't believe the Dolphin will move your stuff whereas with a Disney to Disney resort move you can drop your luggage with Bell Services and then it will be delivered to the next resort.

I totally love split stays but I wouldn't do 3 resorts in 7 days. We do a minimum of 4 nights.

Also we were not that impressed with Landscape of Flavours. We went once and what we had was ok but nothing special and certainly not worth moving resort for especially when you can visit for a meal.

I know beeping within walking distance if EPCOT is great but riverside is a fab resort close to EPCOT if it were me I'd stay there

That is a lot of time packing/unpacking, tranfering , check in /check out, etc...
I would not do it

To me even changing hotel once during a trip (and we normally stay 3 weeks) sounds like too much hassle! Then again we are pretty lazy when we are on holiday, haha! I think the idea of doing a split stay is exciting though, just not something for us. I do think that 3 in 6 nights is a bit much, maybe stick with 2? Have a great time whatever you decide to do!! :)

When I travel I always leave my stuff in my suitcase for the most part. I never move things to a dresser. So when I do split stays I just put my toiletry bag in, zip up the suitcase, drop it at the front of the resort, and hop on a bus to a park. I rarely come back to the room before dinner so I do not miss anything. It sounds like you are taking a taxi to dolphin since they do not move bags so that won't be an issue, but should you decide otherwise, just make sure you slip your swimsuit and spf into your purse or bag before you leave for the parks if you want to swim or anything that afternoon.

Also with values and deluxe, the bus stop will be near bag drop so that makes it easier. With the mods, if you are far from the main building, you would have to pull your suitcase all the way or ask someone to come help. So that could be a pain.
