I keep changing my mind about this. We were thinking about trying to see Fantasmic this trip. My son will have just turned 5 and I think he would enjoy the show. He may not enjoy all the waiting I hear is required to see it but I do think he would like the show. I think my DD who will be 2 1/2 would be scared. So one of us would have to go back to the resort with her. We are planning another trip for Nov 2010 also. Question is do I wait and take them both the next trip? Do I take only DS this trip which would probably upset DD? or am I over reacting and I attempt to take them both and just leave if DD does not like it? Any advice would be really appreciated!

We saw fantasmic in feb and my DS were almost 3 and 1 1/2. They both loved it. The wait is the only probem, but a little snack and light up toy handled that!! They weren't scared at all. The older is more scared then the younger one but he loved it! We were about half way back so we didn't get wet or anything. I think if we were closer to the front he might have been a little! I say go for it!

We did not take our 5 and 2 year old children to see Fantasmic but it is really just a personal decision. The scorcery theme is just not what we want to expose them to. We LOVE Disney but stay away from this particular theme.

I think it really probably depends on your child's personality but my 2 year old and almost 5 year old DS were not scared. The wait wasn't too bad with snacks and toys! We were there early Dec so not too crowded. When my DS was 19 months we also took him and did the preferred seating package and that worked out well!

I was trying to remember my DS's reaction to it...I don't think it made that much of an impression on him so really skipping it probably would have been ok. He really liked Indiana Jones and the Lights Camera Action stunt shows!!! He also liked the Great Movie Ride!

Both my kids have seen it twice. Or maybe 3 times, I can't remember! DS was only 20 mos the first time so pretty oblivious to the scare factor. It is scary. DD was scared. We told her it would be scary. She hit her face in dh's shirt when it got too loud, too much fire, etc. She survived. I really love it so have drug them to it!

Thanks for all the advice. I am still not sure what to do but I will consider it since some of the little ones seem to like it. I think I would probably try to do the dinner package if I go.

You've got a major advantage right now...

See how DD handles the fireworks for 4th of July. That could be a major gauge to see if you think she would handle it.

If she's sketchy, I say forget it. If she's ok, go for it.

I would advise sitting near the back and then one of you can take DD out if she does not want to stay. We took my 2 yr 10 month old in December. I had watched it on youtube and thought it was okay for her, but I had forgotten how intense it can be if you are close and we had seats fairly close to the front. She absolutely loved the first part of the show and the end with the boat, but was scared during the Pochahontas and villian stuff which goes on for a pretty long time. I think she would have been better if she had been near the back. We went back to WDW in May and she did not want to go see it again unless the took the villian part out which I told her they weren't going to do just for her:laughing:

We saw Fantasmic a year ago for the first time. My younger two did not like it much (they were 2 & 4), though they didn't freak or cry or anything. They thought it was scary and requested we NOT do it again on the trip we just got back from. I think it's pretty scary for some little ones.

I don't think it would be a big deal at all for you to wait until next year. So if you're the least bit stressed about it, I'd relieve yourself of that stress and just put it off until then. :)

We went this past May, and took our 18 month old son. The wait was what bothered him, by the time the show started he was ready to go.

My son didn't really like it much. He LOVES fireworks, so it wasn't a noise or dark issue. He just really didn't care for it. Part of it was that he was a little bored in the middle. He's 5.5 now, so this was during our trip last year when he was 4.5 (we skipped it during our recent trip)

Honestly, for all of us, it's just OK, not a must do.

We've been to Disney five times and seen Fantasmic six times. Yep, one trip we did it twice! We love it. My youngest two have both seen it as a two year old.

My middle one didn't like it at two so she is buried her head in my lap during the scary part. But really, the princesses on a boat more than made up for it. That is what she remembered!

My 3-year old son didn't mind the show. I wouldn't say he LOVED it, but he enjoyed it. The only time he spoke up was when Jafar, as a snake, was after Mickey. My son asked us if Mickey would be okay. We reassured he Mickey would be fine and all was good. When he saw Mickey was fine, he was even better. :goodvibes He didn't enjoy fireworks last 4th of July, but on our Disney trip this past March he couldn't get enough of the fireworks!! You're the best judge of your kids. Maybe watch Fantasmic on YouTube with them & see what they think. :wizard:

We had a hard time with Fantasmic when the kids were younger, the waiting is really challenging, the benches are really hard, and if one of them has to use the rest room it's a big pain. Plus the show scared them.

We did it last year and they liked it, but not enough to want to sit through it again.

When DS was 4, we saw it and he was scared. It was not worth all the wait either, IMO.
This last trip we decided not to see it because DS & DD were only 2 1/2 and we knew they would be scared. With so many other things to do at WDW, we thought we'd leave those seats for a family that would enjoy it while we did something else.
