I had Comcast for over 13 years. Every year, the price would go up, I would call, they would put me in a new package, my increase would be about $5.00 per month or less.
3 Years ago, they raised me, I called & the best they could do for me was $40.00 per month more than I was paying. I was told it was called a "promotional price" for a reason & didn't I understand the price would go up when the promo ended, and also that they would be happy to disconnect my service if I didn't like it. Needless to say, with that attitude I switched to Fios.
My Fios triple play bill was $182.00 per month. I called recently to see about lowering it & was given a $20.00 per month discount for the next year, no new contract, so I am free to switch if I want.
Yesterday a Comcast rep rang my bell & offered me the same package I have now, plus a DVR (which I don't have) and an additional box for my daughter's room, for $135.00 per month, plus tax, approximately $145.00 per month total, $17.00 per month less than I am paying now, with a 2 year contract & a $100.00 credit for switching.
I like the TV & phone quality with fios, not impressed with their internet service, but it works. Debating on whether to make the switch. The savings would be $304 the first year (with the $100.00 credit) and $444 the second year, if Fios increases my price back to where it was before the $20.00 per month discount.
I hate to go back to a company that treated me so badly, but I am all for saving money. Based on the above experience, and any personal experience....would you switch??
Is pining one company against the other switching, carriers & renegotiating the only way to keep the costs down??
I already set up a gmail account so as not to have to worry about losing my email address if I do opt to switch carriers every few years.
