This not a pro-child anti-child thing... its just a question....

Would anyone support an adults only section within a DVC resort? I was thinking something along the lines of, lets say the two buildings that make up the Carousel section of SSR. Those are the least popular locations of any DVC resort as far as I can see. They are way-out-of-the-way and don't have a view, a pool or anything worthwhile.

Let's say Disney was to take these two buildings, add a small no-frills pool and make them available to adults only. No one under 18. It would be the same concept as the Disney Cruise adults only pool area.

Would something like that make sense and would it be something you would be interested in?

:thumbsup2 While I love watching children while at WDW...I would love an adult only option since DH and I are in our 40's and childless back at the hotel/resort. I would even pay a few dollars extra to stay there.

Well, we are FAR beyond the age for kids, but frankly, I've never had an issue with kids at DVC resorts. Now, if you would ask me if I would like to see a specific time at Signature restaurants that would be adults only, then I'd vote yes for that!;)

To be specific though....No, I wouldn't support the idea of an adults only section of a DVC resort.

After totally being spoiled when we go on DCL, YES I would definately support this! A quiet pool would be heaven!

YES!!!
I have 2 grown kids of my own and still very involved in scouting....that being said, adults only option would be great!!!!

I would not support it. Kids are part of what makes this whole thing work so well. Kids are the center point.
My 2 Cents

The problem is, the more "guaranteed" booking options there are, the less overall avalability there is at the resort.

For instance, what if a family wanted to book a week long vacation, but 4 days were available in the family section, and 3 days in the "adult" section? The opposite could also be true, we've already seen people blocked from a full week without moving at OKW simply because of the Near Hospitality category they added a couple of years ago. And that is simply a location, not a "mandatory" adults only vs family booking.

So while in theory it may be desirable, and I personally would book into an adults section if it were available, it has a lot more potential to make bookings more problematic for all members. Nor do I think it would be legal to block owners from obtaining a reservation simply because they have children.

Probably would never happen but I would support it 100%! I love kids, have 3 teens but love the adult only pool on all the cruises I have taken. I do not care if kids are next door or in the same building but I would be in heaven if they made 1 small pool at the larger resorts adults only.

I would have to agree with Chuck, if it were allowed it would be a booking nightmare.

I'm with Chuck and Diane. I wouldn't support this because it would cause more problems with booking. Plus, kids aren't usually the problem that I find at the resort. It's the adults who bring the glass bottles to the pool, who decide to toss the ball the entire length of the pool, who are making all the noise in the villa, who decide to park across two or three parking spaces, etc.

Plus we've still got an "under 18 yr old" in our family.

I'd think it wouldn't work at an existing DVC for reason Chuck states about legality of blocking owners with kids. I'd think it would probably have to be a new resort that is designated at the get-go for adults only. DH & I have 3 :dance3: but in future when he and I have more opportunities to travel without them this may be a nice option to have available.

I love kids, and enjoy seeing them at the parks. But with ours grown and on their own, we have gotten used to a quiet lifestyle and the noise at the resorts can tend to get on our nerves at times. I'd love a kid free building but I don't think it would be practical, as someone pointed out it would reduce inventory.
I always make sure to ask for a room at the end of a hall, so that at least there is reduced foot traffic outside. That doesn't mean that we might have a villa full of kids making lots of noise next to us though. Drunk or just rude adults can make alot of noise too, though their noise tends to be at night, as opposed to kids, early in the morning, and we like to sleep in at WDW. :worship:

The pools are usually not a problem for me, as I only use the quiet cove pool at VWL, and seldom am bothered with loud kids- they like the big pool at the lodge. Same for our other home resort, BWV, I head for the quiet pool, instead of clown-ville, as I call it.

The thing is, a building full of adults only is bound to have a few who want to party hard at all hours, so it's really a trade-off, IMHO.

I was wondering if this was even necessary? I think an adults-only pool would be great for the larger resorts, but I'm not certain a whole building is required.

I would especially love an adults only pool at a DVC resort. I love the water and I don't like when the kids are all over kicking and splashing, throwing balls, etc. I like to just be in the water and relax, so an adult only pool would be great. I would not mind the resort that way, but it would not be feasible.

Not really, I think it would just cause addition issues. My husband and I have decided to take a niece or nephew a few days before leaving home. We just called and added them to the reservation/dining. I also agree it would be a booking nightmare.

Do you mean actually blocking sections of rooms for adults only, or do you mean just a small area of the resort like a small pool, hottub, bar area that is only for adults like they have on DCL?

If you mean the latter then yes, I would be all for an adults only area. That wouldn't have anything to do with room bookings. Just a dedicated area where adults come together to relax and enjoy other adults. Time out for grown ups:lovestruc

I have 2 kids and I love them more than I can put into words, however, I LOVE the idea of having adult only areas. I'm going to WDW with my BFF in Jan (No kids trip) and as much as I love kids sometimes its nice to have some time away. We are going on a cruise on the 26th and I have to say I cannot wait to visit the adult only pool when I my kids are at the kids clubs : ) When we went on our last curise with them on the Disney Magic, DH and I had a couple of meals at Palo (no kids) and loved it. We love our kids dearly but also appreciate any time we can have alone. And if I'm not listening to my kids, I would rather not hear other's kids if given the choice.

Nope. Most of the poblems I have seen at the pool have been adults not kids.
