Would you spring for a waterview at POR mansions?

Hi!

We've been debating this question for the last 2 weeks. We noted on our reservation that we'd like to be in the mansion section of POR, Magnolia Terrace to be exact. If we decided to go for a water view and specify a river view, would it be worth it? We'd love to have a river view since we'll probably be coming back to the room more often this trip due to our 1 1/2 year old's naps.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I would never pay extra for a water view room at the moderates. You do not have a balcony and therefore we do not view paying the extra money as a good investment. I would go with the standard view and spend the extra money on doing sitdown meals. Now if you were asking about a deluxe that would be a different story.

No way!! Not even if I were going to sit all day at the window and look outside.

Hawk.

You are going to LOVE that location! I enjoyed that building and the walk to get coffee every morning. The grounds are beautiful! I would not pay extra for a waterview though, I agree with the other responses.

I also would not pay extra for a water view at the moderates. You can still walk past the beautiful landscaping and water even if your room is not on that side of the building. :D

I did book a water (river) view at POR (just returned Thursday) but next time I won't. We were able to get the discount rate $85/night for water view. It would have been $75/night standard view. Who knows, you may get upgraded upon arrival... As others have mentioned, there are no chairs in which to sit. That was my only regret. We loved the resort, and can't wait to return. Have a great trip!

how on earth did you get por for $85/night? I got the spring rate of $114 and thought that was good. Am I getting cheated here?

I would absolutely not pay for a view at any moderate. They don't have balconies. When we stayed at POFQ, we had to keep the curtains closed at all times for privacy. In that case, there is no view. I loved POFQ, but I would never pay for a view.

 Thanks, everyone! I knew my DIS friends could help us with the decision! No water view for us, we'll stick with the standard view.

You guys are awesome-thanks again!

We always stay on the AB side and always ask for a corner room (2 windows), courtyard view (no extra charge). Last trip we had view of the courtyard out one window and view of the river out the other!!! ~:D~

2minny, I can make you feel better. I got *stuck* with a waterview, because that was all they had left, and I'm paying $132/night. You're smiling now, right?;)

I have stayed in POR mansions five times, I have never requested water view but have always gotten it, that should tell ya something!!:smooth:
