Would you skip DHS?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Fantasmic, Star Tours, and GMR are unmissable on my trips!

It all depends on your family. Some people would never skip Epcot, but our family did on our last trip. We've never done AK because we always had short trips and had to choose between parks. Our very first trip as a family, we park hopped over to HS and fell in love. Every trip since then, we spend an entire day there. Our upcoming trip in May we will finally get to experience AK since we are doing a full week and we will do a entire day at Epcot since our boys are older now and can appreciate world showcase.

I don't understand it while people dislike the park, it's the cleanest park, the most well-maintained park, the ambiance is awesome, the shows are awesome and the rides, the people watching. I discovered DHS at night last trip and it was great the atmosphere was so much fun. But each one of us has our own tastes.

I used to love DHS, but now it is a kind-of "been there, done that thing" What I would recommend (and only because it does pain me to skip ToT, RnRC, and fantasmic) is to get a hopper ticket (but only for that day) and do AK in the morning until like 4 (they close early anyways) and then spend the rest of the night at DHS. Do the headliners, see fantasmic, end of day!

We skipped HS last year, it is the park that we have done many times and I can take it or leave. It also seems like it is the park that is most crowded.

We went in December and I was underwhelmed. We are going back in April and I have planned a half day there, but only because of TSM.

If TSM wasn't there we would skip it all together. We were unimpressed with most of the rides, (great movie ride... really...) and didn't really see the draw for the park.

"If" we were to skip one, this would be it. We don't like any of the headline attractions save for TSM, and there really is nothing there that we would consider a "must do". We do enjoy many things there, but if pressed for time we would skip it without much thought.

No I would not skip it, especially if you haven't been before. I would at least give it a shot and I would want to walk around and see what it has to offer. I have been 4 times and just this time discovered the Art of Animation drawing class which I loved and did twice. There are shows and rides. I would research each ride and show and see if any of it appeals to you and maybe just plan a half day there?

I'm thinking of doing a trip down to WDW(likely) 2015. Of course for me MK, Epcot and to a lesser extent AK is a must. But DHS is a take it or leave scenario these days. I like some of things there but I'm not sure it justifies a full days visit.

I think skipping a park can be a good strategy. DHS is my least favorite park, but everyone has a different opinion on their faves. The park I can't skip is Animal Kingdom, that one is right behind MK for me. Anyway, don't worry about skipping it, it will be there for you next time! :)

If I couldn't stay long enough to tour all 4 parks to my satisfaction, I would wait until I could. We don't do short trips to WDW.

I agree that it's up to your own personal tastes. I think HS is a half day park, though one day I would like to go at night. I've heard more than once it's completely different in the dark.
It's a good park to relax in though. Other than the few big rides, I just enjoy sitting and people watching with the awesome loop music.

I could never skip it... my favorite ride is TOT!

That said, we always park-hop and only spend partial days there... usually do one day starting there and leaving in early afternoon. Then hit it a couple of times at dusk, so I can ride TOT in the dark. I love when the doors open and you can see the whole park all lit up!

In a heartbeat.

I think hoppers have become less valuable and probably won't use them anymore, especially as long as WDW transportation took on my last trip. So depending on how many days I was at WDW (and assuming I visited no other attractions in the area, which is a poor assumption anyway) I would visit:

1 day: MK
2 days: MK twice
3 days: MK twice, AK
4 days: MK twice, AK, EP*

So I would be willing to skip HS for any trip under 5 days, at least with the attractions they currently have.

*EP is treacherously close to falling behind a second day at AK and almost certainly will if the Pandora attractions live up to expectations. That will also push HS back to the 6th day.

We've done two 3 day trips and each time we skipped AK. I need my ToT and Fantasmic fix.

I would rather skip AK and go to the zoo at home. The only things at AK I really like are Everest and Bugs Life. The safari and the rapids are fun but I can live without them.

When our kids were younger, DHS was by far our least favorite park therefore we would only spend a half day there...they only really liked the Playhouse Disney show and watch the Little Mermaid show but that was it. Now that they are older and love to ride RnRC, ToT, Star Tours, watch all the shows, eat at Sci-Fi, and do everything else that DHS has to offer, we always spend at least 2 days there. DHS is a park that we can not miss during any of our trips. Now if you were talking about AK, that is a park that we can take or leave. We do like it because of EE (one of our favorite rides), Tusker House (love the lunch there), Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, and FOTLK :goodvibes.

If I personally had to skip a park, it would be DHS. While I do love some of the attractions, the theming is my least favorite. However, I have a 3 year old DD who LOVES Disney Jr. so I wouldn't actually skip this park (at lest not anytime soon). If we went through the effort to get to WDW, I would probably just spring for PH so we could do all the parks.

To us, DHS & AK are both 1/2 day parks. If park hoppers aren't an option, AK would be the one we'd skip. DHS isn't far behind though.

It's interesting how much opinion varies. We are going for 8 days, with one rest day in the middle, and one down day in the beginning. That leaves us 6 park days. We're doing each park twice and skipping DHS. I hate TT, and Fantasmic, to me, was eh. I'm never riding RnRC, so the park doesn't offer much to me. I will miss ST, and that's a bummer, but I'd rather see more aminals! I also get why others love the park.
