Would YOU shave your HEAD????

Our peds residents would!!

The second-year pediatrics residents here at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics kicked off the year with a "Balding for Cancer" fundraiser. As you know, many children undergoing chemotherapy lose their hair. Well, in a reversal of the usual events, the peds residents agreed to let the patients shave their heads -- one resident for every $1000 dollars raised.

They raised over $4000 for the Children's Cancer Center!!! (I'm so proud of them!)

So, 4 residents, comprised of 3 men and 1 woman (!) all got shaved last week.

But how about YOU? Would YOU shave your head -- for a worthy cause??

Yep. I offered the same deal to DW when she was losing her hair during chemo. She declined the offer (and my hair thanked her )

I wouldn't do it, but I applaud the residents! And you too, Steve.

On a fluffier note, a friend of mine called me the morning of the Bucs/Eagles playoff game, to announce that he would shave his head if the Bucs won. He asked me to bring a razar and shaving cream to the party where we were going to watch the game.

The second the game was over, we had him sitting in the middle of the living room and my husband shaved him bald!

I picked option 1, but only because there wasn't an option to do it whether it was for a worthy cause or not. I would have no problem shaving my head (I've been told it grows back ), I just don't have any reason to right now.

No, but I would/will continue to donate hair when it gets long enough to Locks of Love instead. I'm not quite half-way there again.

I wouldn't shave it, but I would agree to cut it REALLY short. My hair is pretty long know so they'd probably get a good 2 feet of hair out of me!

As long as I could wear a wig afterward, I'd probably do it if the cause was good enough.

Its not like my hair is this amazing crown of glory, anyway. I actually wouldn't mind shaving my head, perhaps my straight, baby fine hair would grow back into thick, curly ringlets.

I've shaved my head before.....for a worthy cause, I would shave it without hesitation!

I would do it and buy lots of cute hats and caps I like my hair short anyway and it grows really fast!

After starting a new hair style two months ago where I cut my hair to 1/2 inch max length (and like it), shaving my head would now be a small step and I would definitely go for it.

Been there. Done that. Have the photos. Unfortunately, DW Sue doesn't like the look, so I'm letting it grow back in (where it will grow).

I voted yes, and have actually done it once before. Shaved my head to peach fuzz length the day a friend who was undergoing chemo shaved hers. Moral support and solidarity for her.

I shaved my head on a dare once... and it was just a dare, not a worthy cause!


My DH and I have a dear friend that is dying on cancer. He was very insecure about his hair loss, and DH just cut his all down as well for support of him.

I would absolutely shave my head. I might not have said that with such confidence, but when I lost my hair it wasn't that big of a deal in the end. I think this is a wonderful way to raise money and I'm sure the kids got a big kick out of it.
