Would you send out a reminder?

The thread on party invites got me wondering something.

My DS's birthday next Saturday. We invited his whole class so we had the invites put in the kids Thursday folders last week and told people to RSVP by Saturday of this week. The problem is that another kid in the class did the same thing and sent out his invites in the Thursday folders for a party that was last Saturday. The parties are at the exact same place which means, the same invites.

There are 23 kids in his class and I have only heard from 6 people. 5 are coming and 1 is not. I am wondering if people realized that they were two seperate invites or if they thought they got two invites for the other kid on accident and threw one. I was wondering if I should sent out a reminder in the Thursday folders this week about the party or if I should maybe email parents and ask them if they are coming if I have not heard by Saturday. Or maybe I should do nothing.

What would you do? I don't want to seem like a pushy mom but do need to know how many kids are coming.

Generally, people send out invitations 2 weeks out, and the RSVP date is a few days before the party, not a week. By the time the RSVP date arrives, maybe 1/2 have RSVP'd. I think you would look like pushy mom to remind people before the RSVP date, especially since the RSVP date is very early.

At first I was confused...but I think I get it. The parties aren't the same date/time...the other kid's party occurred last weekend and you're thinking people might be thinking the parties were one and the same and it's over and done with.

Yeah, in that case I'd send a reminder. I'd just ask the parents to please call or e-mail to say if they can attend or not since you must give the party place a firm #.

In that case I would . Gl I hate tring to get everyone to RSVP so I can plan

The place we are having it did not give me a day as to when they needed to know how many kids are coming. That is why I set it out a week ahead of time. I think that I will just hold off because I don't want to seem rude.

Yes, the two invites were exactly the same because the parties are both at the same place. The other childs was last Saturday and my DS's is next Saturday. I just want to make sure that people did not think that they got two invites on accident for the same party.

If you have phone numbers, call the parents to make sure if their child is coming or not. If not, see if the teacher is able to provide that information to you. Otherwise, definately send out reminders. Especially since another child in the class has/had their party at the same location. The parents may have been confused and thought your child's was a duplicate.

DS7's b-day is in June as is two others in his class. I usually start calling those parents who have not yet responded a few days prior to the cut-off date. Last year there was one parent who was glad I called b/c she misplaced the invite.

Good luck :thumbsup2

If you get a class list I would call after dinner one night when you have more of a chance of reaching someone. Only because of the initial confusion with two invitations to the same place handed out on the same day.:headache: Sending home a paper reminder may not get you the rsvp's you are lacking now.

Hope you have a great party! :)
