Would you rent a weekly stroller?

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about renting a stroller for our week in WDW and just looking for others' experiences!!! My son will be 2 and we are flying out of a very small airport, so we really don't need it there - my only concern is MCO. I know it's a pretty long hike from the gate to Magical Express and I know he is going to want to walk after sitting in a car seat the whole plane ride. We will have his car seat with us and the gogo kidz wheeler plus probably three or four other bags. I LOVE our stroller, but I'm wondering if it will be less of a hassle when we get off the plane if we don't have it?

What was your experience? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

JMO, I'd bring my own stroller. Aside from the ridiculous costs of renting at WDW, you can't take their strollers out of the parks and I know when DD (now 4) was 2, there is no way she was walking from the gates to the bus, from the bus to the room after a long day...

We love having it in the airport too...when DD was not in it, we'd pile our carry-ons on it. :) And, when our flight got delayed a few hours, it was nice to have for DD to nap in.

You have to make the decision that's best for you & your family...

I agree with the pp, WDW stroller are expensive and you can't take them out of the park, so not only would you have to transfer a possibly sleeping child BEFORE leaving the park and carring her back to the room. You would also not have it in DTD or around the resort.

We did bring our stroller when DD was 9months, I loved having it as I had it with us 24/7 and someone didn't have to carry her all the time. For our 2010 I plan on bringing my combi double for both of my childern as they will be more comfortable in thier own stroller.

Most airline will check a stroller for free at the ticket counter or gate check.

I'd bring it too. Hey - you could load up his stroller w/ the carseat and bags and just push it through the airport! Also, keep in mind that the MCO airport can be busy, so if you both have your hands full, you're not going to want him running around while you're walking anyway! AND, the airport is quite large (I know...I literally had to run across the ENTIRE airport (both terminals) when I left a bag on the ME bus in January!:sad2:)

We have 2 kids and I did not want to take the double stroller on the plane. We rented one from off site on the recommendation of a friend. They deliver to and pick up from your hotel and are less than 1/2 the price of Disney. We don't go until Aug 9 but it seems like a better option for us.

I'd bring it too.

We flew out of a small airport last year (White Plains) & I did use it to keep all our carry ons on it while we were sitting or even the walk out to the plane since we had to board outside.

Plus there would of been no way I was going to carry my then 2 1/2 year old & listen to my nearly 5 year old complain that they were tired at the beginning of the vacation when we got to MCO. My then 7 yo was OK with the walk since she knew where we were headed to.

Will you have a car seat? Even if your 2 yo wants to walk you can easily put the car seat on the stroller (did that too) & push it vs carrying it.

Our DD is 2 and we took just a basic umbrella stroller. We loved it - it folded up easy and was compact. The strollers at Disney just look bulky - plus, the cost and having to pick one up at every park just seems too time consuming. Plus, it can be a long haul to the busses and you hotel room - especially if your toddler falls asleep. Same with the airport!

I saw a lot of people trying to get on the bus with their own big strollers and they were struggling to get it folded and maneuver in the aisle. I could hold a diaper bag, my daughter , and fold my umbrella stroller in a second at the same time!

Also, instead of a car seat - we rented a CARES for the plane. It fit into a small carry on bag and worked really well! We only used disney transportation, so we had no need for a car seat!

Definitely bring a stroller! The hardest part of the day is from the bus through the resort. And kiddo might be pooped in the evening...so getting through DTD or another resort that you might go to for dinner or something...you'll want it then as well.

If yours is too big and bulky consider purchasing a good umbrella stroller (like a Volo) for the trip. You can resell when you get home. Overall you will have spent far less money than renting and have more time with it. (Or you might love it and sell your older stroller! LOL) Or you can ask friends and family if anyone has a more appropriate stroller you can borrow and bring.

Have a great trip!

The stroller we have home is old, the wheels are bent, and we have to bend over to push it. We decided not to take it and started walking everyday. Our DS3 could not keep up with us so we thought about replacing it, but he only wants it for walks. We decided to rent a jogging stoller from Walker Mobility. My Dad is renting a scooter from them and that's when we found out they also rent strollers. The price is great (half the cost of buying one) and they deliver it to our hotel and will pick it up. Only 14 more days until we find out if it is better than our old one.

As for having a stroller in the airport I am happy not to have one this time. The last time we flew my youngest DS was 18 months. I had to take him out of the stroller so it could be folded up and sent throug the x-ray machine. While I was fighting with the stroller my son took off and I of course had to chase him and then then security guard was chasing me. :rotfl2: I kept telling the security guard how sorry I was, but he was not happy with me. I think the only thing I will miss about not having a stroller in the airport is having him straped down so he can not take off. :lmao:

i use my umbrella(mac) for the airport and gait checked it, then I rent the bigger graco for the parks, much more space, cup holders etc, with a 2 year old I say no way to the wdw stroller, you will need it as you go the the boat, bus, monorail etc. We used a babys best friend, have fun!

Also, instead of a car seat - we rented a CARES for the plane. It fit into a small carry on bag and worked really well! We only used disney transportation, so we had no need for a car seat!

How do you RENT a CARES? I've heard you can rent on Ebay but I'm nervous about that.

We have a 2 1/2 and almost 4 yr old and our plan is to rent from Orlando Stroller Rentals - the double jogger. They'll have it waiting at our resort and will pick up on the last day, too. MUCH cheaper than Disney's charges and much mroe comfortable stroller. You could also look into a stroller swap in the BUDGET boards. Hadn't occured to me to bring an umbrella stroller for the airport though. That's an EXCELLENT idea! We may do that as well! :thumbsup2

we just went in April and we rented a double jogger from Orlando Stroller Rentals. they deilvered it to our resort and picked it up, it was wayyyy cheaper than the disney strollers, much more comfy for the kids (3 and 4), and of course we could use it outside of the parks. they are Baby Jogger City Mini Doubles and they are so quick and easy to fold up! i really wanted to buy one after our trip i loved the stroller so much. we rented a stroller cause i HATE flying with strollers, but i knew the kids would be tired after staying late in the parks to see fireworks and stuff. i am SO glad i had it.

For the price of it I would bring my own plus I find they look uncomfortable (JMO). I bought a new one from wal mart for my 4 year old for $40 (he doesn't normally use a stroller hence the new purchase) which I can sell on Kijiji or craigslist when I get back :thumbsup2

I did a double stroller swap in January last year and it was mixed reviews all the way. I LOVED IT! kiddos could walk or ride, and if they were walking, the bags were in the stroller. DH HATED IT, of course he's the one that had to lug it onto all the busses and stuff. I paid $10 for the whole week and we still ended up renting the Dis strollers at the parks. After a couple of days, hubby was not going to fight that big thing on the busses anymore.

I think this January I will just MAYBE rent an umbrella stroller. I'm not keen on renting the park ones daily, that's a lot of moolah.

I would bring my own stroller IMO. You can rent a stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals versus WDW, because you can take the ORS strollers out of the parks. The WDW ones you can't, and would need to carry your child back to the resort. http://www.orlandostrollerrentals.com/ will deliver the stroller to your resort and then you just leave it with bell services when you are leaving. They have free delivery too.

Mom of twin boys here -- taking our double stroller thru the airport is a total PITA. We are going to WDW in Nov, and we are NOT taking it. The boys will walk with us holding our hands and we have our oldest (12) going with us along with another adult. We are renting a double stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals - cost is cheaper than Disney strollers, they will deliver and pick it up at our hotel, and we can use it going out to the parking lot etc.

My daughter and son-in-law are going to WDW in September. 2 year 4 month old granddaughter is going also.........

Those who have taken their own umbrella stroller - could you tell me what brand you had - I'm also wanting one with a canopy.

Would appreciate any help

Thanks:love:

I did rent a stroller for a week but I rented from www.orlandostrollerrentals.com. They have the Baby Jogger Citymini Stroller which I absolutely loved so much that we r buying one. The strollers at the park are hard plastic, not very wide, do not recline and do not have an extra large canope. Our stroller at home was heavy and bulky so we decided not to take it. The BJ was lightweight and a snap to close. They deliver it to ur hotel . It was only 70.00 for the week which I think was cheaper than park strollers and u can take it whereever u go. This is a blessing at 1 am when u have the walk to the busstop or to ur room. Hope this helps!
