Would you rent a car

We will be back at the YC this December and am torn about renting a car for the week. I need to rent a car for one day to drive down to visit my Dad in Lake Wales. Usualy I just reserve one with National and pick it up at the Dolphin. Today I decided to check prices and found that it isn't much more to rent the car for a week as it is to rent it for the day.

So, with DME, would you rent a car anyway given that you only need it for one day? DME is great (although US Airways is doing RAC at the YC yet from what I understand) the buses are fine for getting around to the parks and with just the two of use and the Disney food plan I don't really need to go shoppping.

Personally, I'd rent the car for the week as this gives the flexibility/freedom to see what else Florida has to offer besides just "The Rat" - and there's a whole LOT more...In addition, when you stay at one of the WDW resorts, there is no charge for parking at any of the 4 WDW theme parks.

I agree, but DME is a real incentive not to rent!

We just got back on Friday and rented from Alamo for the week for only 94.00 full size total taxes etc... We would have done ME if the rental car prices had been too high. We really like having the car and even skipped the buses some days and drove ourselves to EPCOT and Animal Kingdom and downtown Disney. My husband actually had the rental car and was out front of baggage claim before the baggage was delivered to baggage claim for the flight. So we made great time getting to the hotel CSR. It was also nice to get to our hotel with our bags as it was late. I say check the rates if you can rent for 5 or more days it is really cheap. Check for discount codes on here. We used one for 25.00 off a weekly rate plus the AE code for extra off. I think it is the cheapest we have ever rented a car for. Good Luck and have a great trip.

I would rent the car once you're at the YC resort.

Return the car the day before or if your flight is very early in the morning, keep the car sleep an extra hour by not taking DME and drop off the car at MCO.
