Would you regret this?......

My DF and I decided to move the MK photo shoot to the day of the wedding and to move our ceremony up to 10am so that we are not ready and waiting around for hours. After the wedding and cake cutting I assume we'll be finished around 12 noon. At that point we're going to turn everyone loose, go back to our room, change and relax. When I mentioned doing this to my mother she seemed concerned.

Would cutting the celebration short be something we regret? :confused3

I don't find anything wrong with this at all. You can still celebrate for the rest of the day, just not in the "traditional" way. I think it is a great idea!

Absolutely! It's still your wedding day...you just won't be dressed up. Wear the ears with the veil and you'll be all set.

If we learned anything from planning a FTW, it's that "it's all about the magic...OUR way" right? So do what you want and enjoy.

You know what I'm doing the same thing. My soon to be Husband doesn't want to have to get dressed twice so we are having MK pics early in the moring and our wedding starts at 10 am..we are ending the reception around 2. I doubt we'll be there that long. Good luck...just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.

Not only would I not regret it... it's exactly what we are doing.

Since we are an Intimate wedding, we figure we should be done with everything around noontime and then, since our wedding is on the last day of our "weekend," everyone else will be heading to the airport and FH and I will be in our "secret" honeymoon location.

We are spending time with everyone during the weekend, though, and having a special "rehearsal dinner" (without the rehearsal...lol) the night before so that everyone can feel that they've spent some special time with us.

I think it's a great plan... butthen, I'm obviously biased! :rotfl:

That's pretty much what we did. The night before we had a rehearsal dinner with my daddy, my niece (MOH), and DH's parents. Our ceremony was at 3:00 and so we spent the morning apart as we didn't want to see each other before I walked down the "aisle."
The ceremony took 20 minutes then we had the cake cutting and pictures all over the resort for a couple hours. Then we said good-bye to everyone and we went to our room alone for the evening and had dinner in our room just the two of us. It was very nice, very romantic. They all either went to MK, DTD, or stayed at the resort and hung out.
The next morning we hosted a brunch with everyone and they all seemed very happy with that. We spent time with friends who did not attend the ceremony in MK and PI the next day and night too. No one thought they were neglected or didn't get time with us and it was exactly how we wanted it.

This may be massively off topic...but after reading this thread I sort of realized...wow...when all this crazy planning is over...we'll be actually married...no more "fiance"...no more wondering what it will feel like to be married or stressing about the wedding...we'll be husband and wife..like our PARENTS!!! :rotfl2: Me?! a WIFE?!!! NEVER... ;) I'm so excited I just can't stand it!! I love it when those disney brides who are all married up tell those of us who are still planning what they've done!

:rotfl: was that off topic? I'm so ADD these days.. :rotfl:

Well, our wedding was at 10am and around 230 our reception was over.

I was very sad to call it a day and wish we had stayed dressed up a little longer ... just my two cents. 9 months of planning and it was all OVER.

The ideal would be a 9am ceremony with brunch reception to follow...We would also like some private down time in the afternoon to unwind, but plan on hosting an Illuminations dessert party later that night.

9am ceremony in epcot

brunch reception 10 - 2

everyone heads to the parks after that (still in wedding gown and tux!) to spend the day riding rides and eating main street tollhouse cookies

finish off at epcot for illumniations with whoever we've got left

CRASH!

:)
