We are renting a car for at least two days to go to SeaWorld and the beach, but you would reccomend renting a car for the other 5 days? How effective is Disney transportion? Is it hard to drive around Disney?

If your staying on Disney property the transportaion is pretty good from hotel to the parks and back. It also depends at which resort you stay as some share more stops than others. Where the bus system falls short is if you are going to another resort for dinner. There is no direct way for most resorts so you will need to take a bus to Downtown Disney for example and then the bus to the resort you are heading to and then the same in reverse. Plan for at least an hour each way. We have done it and if your in vacation mode and not in a rush it can be a pleasant experience.

We have also rented a car and it was a great convenience. Depending on how many are in your party, especially if you have small children and may need a quick getaway from the parks, nothing beats having a car. Guest who stay on Disney property also park free at the parks. I found driving around Disney to be pretty easy too. If I had my choice and there was no budget issue I would rent a car for the convenience and flexability

Disney does a really good job in moving a load of people from the resorts to the parks and back every day.
At park openings and closings the buses will be crowded but Disney does push extra buses into service during peak times.
What we do is take our time at park closing. Last June after Wishes at the MK we just sat on a bench across from the castle as the throngs raced down Main Street. After 15-20 minutes we slowly walked to the exit and the bus station was peaceful. Personally I cannot imagine it being any better trying to drive out with hundreds of other vehicles.
One thing everyone here on the DIS agrees with is that it makes no sense to drive to the Magic Kingdom. Only Disney buses are allowed near the MK entrance. All other traffic must go to the TTC. From there you will tram to either the boat or monorail to get to the MK.
Note that WDW transportation runs from early morning until late into the night. Early breakfast buses start at 6:30am daily for the MK area and 7:00am for the rest of the World.
When we are on vacation the last thing I want to do is to drive anywhere. Disney will take you wherever you want to go. Just make sure when making dining plans at resorts you plan on the nearest theme park for that part of the day. Saves a lot of time and travelling.

We did rent a car last year for our 8 night stay. What a waste of $500!!! It is easier if you are going from resort to resort but that's about it. Really Disney does a great job with it's transportation. The only thing I have read in contrast is if you are staying at a value resort. It seems that they share buses and sometimes they are full by the time they get to the end of the line. We stayed @ CBR and never saw more than 20 people on the bus, and that was during the July 4th week. Hope you have a great time!
