Would you rather??

The giant icons at the All Stars would be so much fun for a two-year-old to see! (I love the Toy Story area.) Even I like them; it just feels so Disney.
I’ve never stayed at WL but AKL is my favorite resort and they were designed by the same person - I vote split. I always prefer values and deluxes over the moderates, because of the sheer size with the multiple bus stops that I don’t enjoy. CBR is my least favorite resort that I’ve stayed at so far But many people love the skyliner.

You will get a chance to experience the best of both worlds if you do the split.

I would do a split stay if you're the type of people who live out of your suitcase anyway, but if you have to unpack and repack everything it might not be worth the hassle. CBR is lovely, especially with the Skyliner and proximity to the Riviera.

I would do the split stay. We usually take a Lyft to the new resort with our luggage and leave it at bell services, then continue on to the park. Does your son need to nap? That might be a problem if you can't get into your new room before 4pm (I think that's the technical checkin time).

You don't even need to go to the second resort with Lyft. What I do is just take my luggage to bell service to transfer over, go to the park for the day, then go to my new resort and check in. No point in going there earlier to check in.

I have thought about a split stay the last 3 times but just can't make myself do it. I like to unpack and be in one place for the week.

I don't check in I just drop the luggage at bell services. This way if you need something from your luggage during the day it's there when you come back. Otherwise you may have to wait for delivery.

We did split stays years ago and didn't like them, although they allowed us to experience more on property venues. With the pandemic we've been back into split stays and we still don't like them. Frankly we're not in the room long enough for it to matter but I don't like the packing and unpacking - even though we live out of the suitcase so the unpacking is minimal. IMO, find the place that location is ideal and stay there - even if you have to stay for less time.

We don't mind doing split stays.....actually enjoy the different resorts. And my favorite resort is WL. THere is something so magical for me about the boat trip to Magic Kingdom. My kids were 5 and 6 on their first visit, and the WL was where we stayed. So that gets my vote. :)
On the other side, my kids really enjoy the skyliner, so you would have that at CBR.
I don't think you can make a bad choice. Both sound like fun vacations!

Would you rather spend 6 nights at the CBR or a split stay of 3 nights at the All Star Movies followed by 3 nights at the WL? They come out to about the same price. We are considering a stay in November 2021 with my DH and DS (2). It will be both of their first times to WDW, but they have been many times to DL. I really want my hubby to have a great time, especially since he's used to day trips at DL instead of weeklong resort Disney vacations. We love hotels, pools, and restaurants. My DH loves cabins so I think he would love the WL and my 2 year old would love the All Star Movies, but we would have to change hotels. I think my DH would also love the theming of the CBR because we met while working for Carnival Cruise Lines and spent a lot of time in the Caribbean. They have a great pool too and the skyline is a plus! I have just heard that it is really spread out so I'm not sure if that's an issue. What are your thoughts?
6 nights at CBR

My 10 year old and I did a split stay this past January with 3 nights CBR and 2 nights WL. We used the skyliner for HS and Epcot while staying at Caribbean. Then we used the boat for MK at WL. It was so nice to only use the bus for AK and DS. We did resort activities at both and used the main pools. They were both great. I have a hard time picking which was my favorite. But my 10 year said CBR was his favorite ever, and we've stayed at Pop, Movies, AKL, Sports, WL and CBR. If you don't unpack much, I'd vote for the split stay. It feels like two vacations in one. And as much as I love the theming at Movies, if you could do a split stay between CBR or Pop and WL, that would be my choice for skyliner and boat access.

What don't you like about CBR?

Just my opinions
1). Way too spread out
2). I don’t care for the theming
3) Not big on the dining options.

Many of the buildings pretty much require you to drive to the main building or take the internal bus, a real inconvenience. This is coming from someone who loves Port Orleans Riverside which is also a good size resort but that felt much smaller than CBR believe it or not.

We just got back from 3 days at CBR and I think I had really low expectations because there are a lot of negative reviews/opinions on disboards for this resort. However, we were pleasantly surprised how much we all loved this resort! It was my family of four (DH, DD-15, and DS-12). We normally stay at Beach Club. The food was excellent and fast. The pool was awesome even if it doesn’t compare to Stormalong bay lol. My kids walked around the resort a lot and they thought it was quite large but I didn’t find it too big at all. The Skyliner is amazing as an additional mode of transport to the parks or Boardwalk area. We found this resort beautiful and peaceful and would definitely return if we stay moderate again!
I have also done split stays and wouldn’t recommend it. If you do though, I would also vote for staying deluxe on the second portion of your trip.

I don't like the CBR either. We stayed there 3 times when our kids where little and I agree, it is way too spread out. At the time, the dining was fine, it just took forever to get to the main building. It is not a resort that I would stay at again with all of the other options. We prefer CSR over CBR.

Just me, but I’m not fond of the values so I’d so CBR for entire trip. Also, again it’s just me but I won’t do a split stay for a short trip. 3 days, you’re barely there. Just enjoy CBR!
We loved CBR. It was our first onsite stay. We thought the landscaping was beautiful, and loved the hammocks on the beach! Location is everything there. We had a location in Jamaica and was just a short and pleasant walk to Caribbean Cay foot bridge to get to main buildings.

Everyone has different tastes, and likes different things. Coronado would be my last choice for a moderate. We went there once to walk around and see if we’d like to book it for our next trip, nope! Just didn’t appeal to us.

That’s a non issue tbh, on moving day it’s easy enough to go to a park or hang out at the pool at either resort. Last month the day I switched from GF to YC I went to AK. Unless you’re staying DVC it’s rare for it to take until late afternoon to get a room IME. I got my room ready text while I was getting off Dinosaur at like 1pm. I only stayed until 4 because Disney was moving my bags over and I knew that would be later in the day.

With a two year old not having a room can be an issue. Some 2 year old's need a nap in a bed and need some of their things to make them comfortable. And unlucky for us, both times we've done split stays our room hasn't been ready until almost 4 pm, with our luggage not arriving until almost 5 pm.

OP I would do CBR. We've done two split stays and while it is fun to try different resorts I despise packing and unpacking. We are also midday break people so it sucks not having a room. I know we can do the pool but we don't like changing in locker rooms and when we are ready to go back to our room after pool time we want our room to be ready, which it is not promised until 4 pm.

Next trip DD and I have decided we do not want to do a split stay. We like unpacking and settling in. We've done them the last two trips so we are staying put next trip. We've also stayed at CBR twice when the kids were younger (over ten years ago) and we enjoyed it a lot. I bet I would like it even more with the upgrades they've done.

I absolutely HATE split stays, I want to unpack and be on vacation! If you want to see the other resorts, take Disney transportation over and check them out (when officially allowed post COVID)
