Would you rather ...

As with everything, the extremes, themselves, are the problem: Poor is bad; untraveled is bad. Luckily the real world isn't black-and-white. We choose to be partially well-traveled and only partially-poor as a result.

Travel the world, no doubt. Which is why my 2 yr. old still sleeps in our room (doesn´t have his own room), we drive not-so expensive cars, have 1 tv for 7 people and live in a very modest sized home. In return my oldest 3 kids have been to 20 countries so far.

I think this is kind of like asking, "What's worth spending your hard-earned cash on?"

I would rather travel the world and be poorer (ie, I am happy to spend my cash on travel rather than investing it in something that might make me richer in future).

But I wouldn't sacrifice career opportunities to travel the world... you know, like I've got a good job I don't hate and the chance to build a nice career if I keep my nose to the grindstone, OR I can quit my job and backpack around the world picking up a little cash here and there and living with the locals... nope, I'm keeping the job and reserving travel for vacations.

Travel, for sure. I'm assuming that "poorer" means I would still have enough money for necessities and a comfortable (though not extravagant) lifestyle. But still, even if it came down to it, life experience is more important to me than money.

be well-off and never traveled the world

or

poorer and have traveled all over the world?

Option2. I'd rather be considered poor. In fact, we *are* poor. We own our home, so I guess technically we're not poor. But our house is an entry level type home, inexpensive to keep up, almost paid for. We drive older cars. We don't buy new clothes until we need them. So, by most people's standards, we are not wealthy people. But we own a small, paid-for camper and we like to travel with that. We can have a great week-long vacation in Florida <1 mile from the sugar-white sands for about $250.

I would rather be well off. I don't need to travel the world. As long as I can travel to the World, Disney World that is, I'll be just fine:goodvibes

It depends on what you mean by poor. I don't want to be destitute and unable to afford a place to live and food and so on. If that's not an issue then I'd definitely rather travel. The world is a fascinating place.

I would love to see the world and travel. I would rather drive less fancy cars and live in a smaller house and not eat at fancy restaurants in order to be able to travel.
