HI! We are planning on a honeymoon next January for 13 nights/14 days in Orlando. We'll be doing all the disney parks and water park, plus both universal parks, sea world, and discovery cove, plus have a few "free days" in between. Here is my question:

I have two options, both of which will cost the same within a few dollars of each other:

Option 1) Stay at our wdw hotel (POP) for all 13 nights, and schedule transportation (Mears) to the other parks for 4 or 5 days

Option 2) Stay at POP for 8 nights, then move to an offsite (across the street to universal, probably Best Western) USO hotel for the other 5 nights. (We would need Mears to transport us to the new hotel, and then again to the airport).

Which would you rather do?

The Universal Resorts are absolutely beautiful. You should definitely split your stay and stay onsite. Is staying onsite at Universal not an option or is that what you meant by option 2? There is free transportation from Universal to SeaWorld.

I thought you meant one of the Universal hotels as well. Where are you thinking of staying ? This might help me decide what I would do. Since it's not a Uni hotel, I'm thinking stay with POP, but I'll wait to hear which hotels you're considering.
BTW....happy upcoming wedding !!! princess: :groom:

Sorry, thought I had put this in my original post. I'll have to go back and edit. Anyway, we were looking at staying at a hotel across the street, probably the Best Western or something in that price range.

keep checking the prices at the Lowes website. Many times with the discounts, you can really get the room prices down.

Am I doing something wrong---I'm trying to check rates for the 3 Uni hotels on their website and keep getting "nothing available" for the middle of Jan '08. Seems odd ?
To the OP, if I were to leave POP, I think I'd have to switch to one of the Uni hotels. Don't think I'd go with just a plain hotel room in that area---maybe a nice suite hotel ? I'm not particularily familiar with which ones are better than others because when I stay offsite, it's at my timeshare. Haven't stayed at a hotel chain since '99. That was the Holiday Inn Maingate West because I got a terrific rate of $33/night. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have stayed there.
It might be worth it to you to stay at POP and just rent a cheap compact car for the few days you'll be visiting SW and Uni ?

I've done this type of stay before both ways staying completely onsite at Disney and splitting it. I have found splitting it was MUCH better. We stayed at the DoubleTree which is literally across the street from USO, and they do have a shuttle to USO. I believe quite a few hotels nearby do as well.
