Would you rather live by WDW or DL?

 We moved from Washington state to Florida about 11 months ago and we love it too. Taxes were a big consideration for us as well and having lived in a state with no income taxes, it was nice that we didn't have to start paying them and filing an extra annual return. We love it here too and are amazed how much friendlier the people are here. We settled on Viera which is on the east coast in Brevard county. The schools here are wonderful and really are a contrast to what we thought were good schools in Washington.

Did you leave family behind to come to Florida?

Having never been to Florida yet, but I've lived in California my entire life, I'd choose DLR. No alligators, no sink holes, no hurricanes, no humidity. There are some nice communities in Southern California. It isn't all LA. Also, from what I've seen DLR AP holders get more discounts than WDW. ;)
Actually, though, I really do like where we live up here in Wine Country in Northern California. It is 8 hours from DLR, but I drive past grassy hills, vineyards, fields of flowers, and cows on my way to and from work. I miss seeing those hills when I'm in Southern California.

I live in the arm-pit of Southern California otherwise known as the Inland Empire. People ridicule it, but I will never leave!
My modest house was relatively cheap (I owe about $150,000 and the current value of my house is $220,000). The schools are okay; I graduated from the High School my kids will be going to, and I did well. I also happen to live about an hour away from anything Southern California has to offer, although I often chose to go to Disneyland over other attractions. I have never been to Florida, but I can't see it beating out what I have. We will see if Florida can win me over when I visit this Summer.

I wouldn't want to live "too" close to either. I'd have to be near the ocean or gulf. Maybe St. Pete beach area in Florida or Santa Monica or Manhattan Beach in California. Close enough for easy day trips. Both have their pros and cons, but I'd prefer the Southern California lifestyle.

WALT DISNEY WORLD!!:cheer2: In a heartbeat! The heat & humidity doesn't bother us, because we're from South Louisiana & it's the same here.

You could not pay me enough to live in California with the politics and taxes and political correctness baley that goes on there. Give me Florida any day!

You know, I feel exactly the same way about Flordia. You couldn't pay me enough with the politics, lack of taxes, and lack of political correctness... up to and including getting away with murder because you didn't like the music someone played on their car stereo. Give me CA any day!

WDW I love the weather and the beaches and the parks are so much better. You could not pay me to live by DL the traffic, the people are awful.
I am hoping to move to Florida.

We are awful? Hmmm, how many of us do you actually know since you've never lived here?

If money were no object then I'd live in San Diego. If that is impossible then I guess that living in St Augustine would be OK.

Being a native Californian and having lived in the South, without question I'd choose DLR.

This is easy,by WDW from October through mid May and from mid May through September by DLR.If I had to pick just one though I would have to go with WDW.

If they make a Disney World in California I bet half the population in the US would move to California!:cool1:

Disney World......So many different options, plus it's close to the major cruise ports we use most often! :goodvibes

Good, stay in California and keep Nancy Pelosi with you.

I grew up an hour from DL and currently live 30 minutes from WDW. I much prefer FL! I actually like the weather here, you totally adjust. I love how many options WDW has to offer. I also love that I'm so close to Port Canaveral and being a DVC member, a little weekend getaway is super easy. Love Orlando life!

Can we keep the political jabs out of this please? Although politics can be taken into account when moving, calling out specifics is not needed.

I am very liberal and from Seattle and moved to Florida (run by Republicans) and I'm living a good, happy life. You can't let politicians change what you want to do.

If you grew up (are native) in California or Florida, then your opinion is completely biased. I have seen a few posts with people who say "I grew up in California, I live in California, and I have never been to Florida.... so CA!".

That opinion is nearly pointless... Of course you would want to live in your home state! Especially when you haven't experienced both!
