Would You Rather Eat at...
I'm making some tough choices for my ADRs, and I thought I'd ask for some input.

Would you rather eat at:

*Citricos or Narcoosee's?

*Flying Fish or the Yachtsman Steakhouse?

*San Angel Inn or La Hacienda de San Angel?

*Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo? (Or scrap both and do the California Grill?)

For context, I'm a total newbie going to WDW with my DFi for a week to celebrate our engagement (I'm learning abbreviations, too!). We like all kinds of food and are perfectly happy being adventurous.

Thanks!

Citricos
Flying Fish
San Angel Inn
If you are after sushi, skip Teppan Edo - they sell it but it isn't much of a selection. If I just wanted sushi I'd skip Tokyo Dining and go to Kimonos.

Citricos
Flying Fish (although I hear wonderful things about Yachtsman, too)
We hated San Angel and have yet to try La Hacienda
California Grill was my favorite Disney meal ever...so take that for what its worth... lots of people think Teppan isn't any better or different than their average hibachi place at home.

Have fun deciding and have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

p.s... I've heard wonderful things about Kimonos, but it doesn't take the DDP.

*Citricos or Narcoosee's? Citricos, I've never had a bad meal here, Narcoossees I've been dissapointed with in the past.

*Flying Fish or the Yachtsman Steakhouse? Flying Fish. I really like Yachtsman too, especially the bread and mashed potatoes, but if I had to pick, it would be Flying Fish.

*San Angel Inn or La Hacienda de San Angel? La Hacienda, I absolutly loved my meal there. While the atmosphere at San Angel is nice, I don't think the food was that memorable.

*Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo? (Or scrap both and do the California Grill?) Never been to Teppan Edo, but I enjoyed Tokyo Dining. I'd probably pick CA Grill, though it was somewhat dissapointing my last time there.

Citrico's is a must for me on every trip so I consider that one a slam dunk - now if you made me choose between Citrico's and Ohana....that would be tough.

I would go Yachtsman but that's one where you can't really go wrong either way.

I like La Hacienda alot - San Angel is somewhat inconsistent I've had good meals there but I was disappointed last time.

Lastly, I'd say do the California Grill - I've always found the food to be excellent and how can you get a better view in WDW than looking down at the MK from the top of the Contemporary?

Citrico's
Flying Fish (although they do serve steak that people review favorably, I have always ordered seafood entrees there.)
La Hacienda (because I haven't tried it yet)
I'd skip both and go to Kimonos (sushi-centric; not on DDP) or California Grill (good sushi; but a good variety of non-sushi, too)

Kimonos sounds great--I love sushi--but I've set myself the task of staying within the DDP as much as possible (except for a splurge at V&A). People are right--planning is half the fun!

-Narcoossee's (Citricos is currently my least favorite signature, as my last meal there ranged from mediocre to poor execution. At Narcoossee's I enjoyed the crab-crusted flounder)

-Flying Fish (neither FF nor Yachtsman is my favorite sig, but I think FF has more interesting entrees)

-San Angel Inn by default. Never been there, but didn't like the food at La Hacienda.

-California Grill

I've never eaten at any of those restaurants, and you might already be aware of this, but are you doing the Deluxe Dining Plan? If you are only doing the regular plan, most of your options are signature, which means they will use 2 credits. You'll likely end up eating at quite a few places outside the plan, if this is the case.

While I was planning my first planned trip, I was told that California Grill and Narcoosees both have views of the fireworks at night. If you can time it right, and get the right table that could be pretty fantastic. I think they both have viewing areas if your table isn't next to the window.

The plan/hope at the moment is to do the Deluxe Dining Plan. My guess is that the next time we come will be with more family (including, possibly, kids), so I wanted to splurge on the food when I knew that all involved would really enjoy the signature restaurants.

My thought was to eat breakfast on the fly most days, do a TS for lunch in the park/resort we're doing during the day, and then plan an evening around a Signature.

Citrico's
Flying Fish
La Hacienda
California Grill

Citrico's and Flying Fish are two of my favorites! My group of 4 ate at La Hacienda in April and everyone really enjoyed their meals...from appetizers through dessert. When we ate at San Angel a few years back nobody was impressed.

I've not been to Tokyo Dining but wasn't all that impressed with Teppan Edo. However, I've always enjoyed my meals at California Grill even if it does get a bit loud sometimes.

*Citricos or Narcoosee's? Citricos

*Flying Fish or the Yachtsman Steakhouse? Yachtsman

*San Angel Inn or La Hacienda de San Angel? San Angel Inn

*Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo? (Or scrap both and do the California Grill?) Cali Grill

My two-cents:
1. Citrico's is more romantic than Narcoossee's. Both are excellent choices.
2. Flying Fish was my previous Disney favorite (until I ate at BlueZoo). Shula's has better steak than Yachtsman. I'd select Flying Fish.
3. Sorry - I have no preference with either of the two Mexican establishments.
4. Sushi you can eat anywhere, but there's only one CA Grill with a view of the Magic Kingdom. I vote CA Grill.

Thank you for letting us play along......

*Citricos or Narcoosee's? Citricos. I like the food and the atmosphere better there.

*Flying Fish or the Yachtsman Steakhouse? Tougher call. I'm going to go with FF just because of the atmosphere and the very best service I have gotten at any WDW restaurant. I do like Yachtsman, though.

*San Angel Inn or La Hacienda de San Angel? The meal we had at La Hacienda blew away my expectations based on a look at the menu. Definitely my choice in this space.

*Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo? (Or scrap bot Teppan Edo can be fun dining, but not fine dining. The sushi selection there is very limited, if that's what you are looking for. It might be fun to try the Sushi Bar at Kona in the Poly if you are after something unusual in the sushi realm.

Citricos or Narcoosee's- Narcoosee's
Flying Fish or Yachtsman- Yachtsman
San Angel or La Hacienda- La Hacienda
Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo or Cali Grill- Cali Grill

Citricos, Flying Fish.

Not a fan of either of the 2 Mexican places, so no opinion there.

And I'd drop both of the Japanese spots and do California Grill.

Keep in mind that I am fairly picky so I base my choices on that

Well, of all of those I've only eaten at San Angel Inn (a long time ago like 1996), Yachtsman and California Grill.

We LOVED Yachtsman and also LOVED California Grill. DH and I will eat at CG whenever we get a chance to Disney without kids. I'm not going to spend that kind of money for kids to eat there. Plus - we enjoy it more as a nice adult dinner. We *almost* tried to get in without kids on our trip we just got back from (and leave them in the villa or something) but decided against it. So I definitely vote for Yachtsman and CG. I don't really remember San Angel Inn, and I'm sure it's changed a bunch in 15 years, so I won't vote either way on that one.

Here's an alternative that still gets you to all of the places you want to go, and then some. Don't get the DxDP. Eat breakfast on the fly each (most) days. Eat CS for lunch, and pay OOP for dinner. You won't spend any additional money beyond what the DxDP will cost you, and your "splurge on food" can now include some of the finest restaurants worth splurging on. You can hit Kimono's since you love sushi, bluezoo, which is probably the best restaurant on property not named V&A's, Shula's if you like steak, Cafe de Paris, which would be a huge upgrade over either of the Mexican restaurants, and you can still include V&A (which you are paying OOP for anyway) as well as California Grill, Flying Fish and Citrico's. If this is too many places, pare down the list to something that fits, but know that you will be having dinner each night in one of the best restaurants on property which you may not get to experience again, or, at least, for a while. And this will not cost you any extra money. Frankly, if you want to go a Signature (or non-dining plan high end restaurant) each night, then you really don't need and probably won't want a full TS lunch each day. Save your appetite and money for dinner, and eat at the best of the best. But doing so means not buying a dining plan.

Congrats on your engagement, by the way!:cheer2:
