Would you put this sandal on your toddler BOY? -UPDATED

I wouldn't have a problem with it but maybe I am strange. :confused3 Honestly I don't get too worried about these things unless maybe they are bright pink. Besides my DS just gets things dirty so fast that those white soles would soon be gray and brown from dirt anyway. If they are a good price, well made, comfortable and my kid likes them then what is the problem as far as I am concerned?

I don't think it looks girly. So they would customize it and you wouldn't have to do anything? How do the prices compare with Stride Rite? I love SR sandals and like to shop for toddler shoes there--very cute.

put them on him...he'll find what little mud/dirt you have somewhere around your home...they will then be too dirty to really see!!

that's what my 3 boys would have done with them! My 10 yr old runs thru sneaks faster than I can buy them!!

I think those would be fine for babies not walking. They do not appear to have much of a sole.

When my boys were your DS age, I bought Stride Rite sandles in navy. They wore these sandals until they reached about 4 maybe 5'ish. As they outgrew them I would buy more.

I think both of my boys wore sandles from Stride Rite just like these when they were younger. In fact, most of the shoes my kids wore up until they were around 4 came from Stride Rite.

But as for the original question.......My answer would be a solid NO.

I think they'd be fine for a toddler.

I'm a Payless fan myself though. My kids' feet grow so fast, even cheap shoes don't have time to fall apart before they outgrow them. My 11 yr old can wear my shoes already! :rotfl:

These are the sandals that DS has always worn. I like that it has a semi-closed toe. It helps prevent a lot of playground foot accidents. Unfortunately, DS can't have sandals this year (maybe some water shoes for the beach). He was fitted for orthotics this year and will have to wear his sneakers all summer.

To the OP. I don't think the shoes you're considering are too girly, but I think the sole doesn't appear to offer enough support and tan suede will be a pain to keep clean. Check out Stride-Rite if you can.

My 12yo son wears men's size 11! They are cruise ships, for crying out loud! :rotfl2:

I love Preschoolians shoes but they don't really have a good boys sandal. They have this style called peek a boo that had pink thread and a pink flower on it. They are really good a customizing the shoes how you want them. I think it still looks girly without the pink thread/flower - but maybe it's because I've been looking at it too long - (If I get it I would get it in the tan nubuck pictured)

Would you put it on your toddler boy (18mos old)?
FYI - Intended for church/dressy wear.

(I edited out the pink thread and flower)

I most definitely WOULD put those on my toddler boy!!! My boys (now 18 and 10) grew up wearing similar Stride Rite sandals (and pink polo shirts) and have suffered no ill effects. Both are extremely all boy!!! If you can't dress them cute when they're little when can you??

I'd put those on Paul (almost 3) with no second thoughts at all. They don't look "girly" to me, but then I'm not particulary worried about that sort of thing. :confused3 I even got my boy toddler a kitchen playset and a baby doll for Christmas, because that's what he wanted. Oh, the horor! ;)

I'd put them on my kids without a second thought! I know I'm in the minority, but I've never used Stride Rite shoes! Our pediatrician told us that the thick, rigid soles actually made it harder for children to walk. So all of their shoes had soles similar to the ones the OP showed...and were quite flexible. Of course neither of them ever had that weird baby gait you often see.

Those are fine for a boy! Goodness, all the fuss over the white soles! How often do people look at the SOLES of a BABY'S shoes? :confused3

Personally, I wouldn't give it a second thought. But if someone's going to ask my opinion on how something looks, then I'll look more closely and give my honest opinion.

Except for "do I look fat in this?" :teeth:

I can't believe you just said that - joke or not! :(

I would put these on a toddler for church/dressy wear, but given a choice I'd prefer something darker. Just personal preference, though. :)

I think it's fine. Then again, I am not one for gender roles and I dressed by DD in boyish clothes for the first 2 years of her life. Now she's Miss Pink, LOL!

I would. For sure. They're way cute.

I put my two boys in similar ones when they were toddlers.

Reminds me of Christopher Robin's shoes.

Thanks for the variety of comments! I appreciate all of them. I have updated my OP to reflect some of the points made - First and foremost the white sole issue - it isn't white. They changed the style but not the picture.

If the updates I listed in my OP change your opinion either way, I'd love to know. Open for more opinions too.

Tanuki - I am assuming your post was in jest (that's how I took it anyway), but we must remember that there are people from all countries, backgrounds, lifestyles etc posting here. I would hate to see my post derailed. PEACE. :hippie:

I think theyre cute - the boy is 18 months old, for crien out loud - not 18 YEARS old!

Get them - :thumbsup2

I think they are adorable for an 18 mth old boy!! Seriously, they would look so cute with a nice dressy summer outfit--very European looking IMHO--and I did have sandals very similar to this for DS's when they were toddlers(who are now 19 and 17 y.o and wearing these sandals did not scar them for life :teeth: )

A clear sole -- how cool is that!

I like them much better that way. :thumbsup2
